RE: In response to PALM COAST PR community/bronx p - 5/25/2009
As one who is aware of the demographics of the area, I would have to say with certainty that Deland has a much higher PR/Hispanic population. This is not to say this is a bad thing. Were I to compare this area to another, I would say suburban NJ, maybe Queens but not the Bronx. The number of illegals here is minimal. They're mostly out west to weed the fern farms and potato fields. As far as criminals, you can no longer run. The internet and computers changed all that. The place is not perfect. It's too small, very, very diverse and jobs are limited. If you do not have an income, DO NOT MOVE HERE! You may be attracted by bargain rents right now, but I am not kidding DO NOT MOVE HERE! You will not find work and you may be

Palm Coast - DON'T MOVE HERE! - 4/28/2009
If you are even thinking of moving to Palm Coast Florida, I warn you, do LOTS of research and reconsider, because it's the WORST move to a city I could have made. Love Florida, HATE Palm Coast. School system is horrible, no public transportation, no jobs, it's really got nothing to offer. Don't move here, that's my

This report is way off - 9/27/2008
The economy in Palm Coast is horrible.
Measured unemployment is in the 12% range (measured being those collecting benefits)
Un-measured unemployment is in the 15% range (un-measured being those who are either no longer eligible for benefits or formerly self employed and were never eligible).
Job creation is in the negatives, businesses are failing left and right.
There is an abundance of unoccupied retail space, in fact almost every retail building has at least one unoccupied unit, some newer construction is 90% vacant.
Essentially the only employment for professionals is either self employment or you must leave the county all together.
The Services industry has been the hardest hit this year with an abundance of companies shutting down.
There are practically no construction jobs left within the county.
Income levels for the entire city are grossly skewed due to the inclusion of

Palm Coast like a mini Bronx - large Puerto Rican - 2/14/2008
I can remember when Palm Coast was just being developed. Developers would target the northeast with a promise of utopia. Of course, only those who had nothing to loose, no job, running from problems, criminals and etc.. ran to this area. People who had good incomes, careers and futures, did not move away. It appeared that only the misfits made the journey. Now the Palm Coast area is home to those and many others who fled South Florida, running from criminal pasts, bad marriages, drugs, and the like. If living among this element is what you desire, then Palm Coast may be right for you. I believe this area to be the least desirable part of Florida, mainly due to the low end

Palm Coast is a "Safe Place" to live. - 12/15/2007
There are many complainers here from NY and NJ who look at the crime rate % and think that it is high. The crime here has gone up, but the population has increased. Drugs and crime are going up everywhere. Please read the sheriff's report on this website; i.e., crime here consists of vandalism, stealing from "unlocked" cars, etc.
This is one of the safest and most beautiful places in Florida!

You are a little confused. The 250,000 maximum population you indicated
for Palm Coast is wrong. That figure is for Flagler County. This city will be built out in five years. As far as building a school every year for fifteen years good luck, do you have any idea what your taxes would be?
The quality of life from 1999 has gone down a great deal.

Crime in Palm Coast exploding vs Florida as a who - 4/17/2007
The 2006 Crime Statistics were released by the State of Florida . The State as a whole dropped about 1 % The Flagler County/Palm Coast area increased 30% . I have lived here just over a year, and in that time I've seen a dramitic increase in gangs , crime , and drugs . I have personally contacted the Sherriff several times regareding drug use in public parks and have been told " just don't go there". That about sums up our Sherriffs attitude toward crime - ignore it and hope it goes away . This is not a family place

Palm Coast may be the best place to live. - 3/23/2007
I have reviewed the other comments about Palm Coast posted here.
#1 Palm Coast could not possibly be built out in 5 years. It is 30+ years into development now and less than 1/2 of the platted lots are built on. The population is 65,000 with a maximum of 250,000. There is no way to build that many homes that quickly even if there were buyers looking to move here.
#2 Anywhere is prone to fires if it get dry enough, look at Calif. now.
#3 The schools are overcrowded because of the growth rate in the mid 2000's. Construction of 1 school every year or every other year will correct this matter in 3-5 years.
#4 If you want access to all of the sport amenities you can imagine, in the sun, we have proximity access to all, if they are not within the City. Golf, tennis, boating or yachting, swimming, beach, intracoastal waterway (river), equestrian areas, etc. Don't be put off by those who want the community to stay as it is. I first moved here in 1986 and have seen
