It can not be that bad!!!! - 12/29/2006
I AM moving to Tampa within a few months and coming from the northeast trust me, Tampa is not bad. 1)Jobs- you have plenty- the economy across the nation is moving toward service. 2)Property- It may be high to rent or pay a mortgage but at least you have an opportunity to live in great neighborhoods and the value of the home is steady increasing instead on decreasing to the point your dream home is worth less than a ford focus. My advise is to pick your battles and research it a little better because leaving a state in which last year (2006) 300,000 other people have moved from Tampa can not be that BAD. I already have job offers from Tampa. I KNOW I will be

What's important to you........ - 12/21/2006
All major cities have there issues as we all well know. Crime, pollution, traffic, etc. Tampa/St. Pete/Clearwater can be a very nice place to live, as long as you can over look a few things. 1. Cost of Living - Housing insurance and taxes are high. 2. Traffic - All I can say is don't move anywhere near US19 - it is truly dangerous. 3. The People - I don't want to generalize here, but.....people here are extremely rude and there is no such thing as common courtesy, everyone is out for themselves. The weather is nice in the winter and HOT in the summer... It's Florida, you have to expect that. There are tons, i mean TONs of things to do. Tampa is not Boring, it just might take you hours to get where you want to go. Beaches are beautiful as long as you are not around during "Red Tide". You will want to know what Red Tide is before you move down

a REAL Review - 12/19/2006
To Anyone reading the other Post's on this site, PLEASE disregard them.
I moved to Tampa about 4 years ago, and ive loved every moment of it.
The Culture, the Sports, the Night life, I love it all.
I dont know what idiot said Tampa is full of rednecks, that ridiculous, I work in Channelside one of the ways we KNOW somone is NOT from Tampa, is if they are country and have an accent. The Core city of Tampa is a Liberal city, Very diverse, and very open minded.
Tampa has as good a night life as any city, while Most cities have 1 entertainment district, Tampa has 4, Ybor, Channelside, Hyde park/ SOHO, and the International Plaza, as well as bars and clubs scattered in various other parts of the city.
Despite being one of the most dangerous cities threw the 90's and early 2000's the crime rate has dropped dramatically since 2003.
Public transportation, has been a joke for quite a while,... but they are making changes and things are getting better, some

Tampa is a great place to live unless your a grump - 12/5/2006
Geez so many grumpy people complaining about Tampa. Maybe they are upset b/c everyone left the nursing home and moved to Florida. I imagine they are watching somebody shovel snow while I write this. Anyway, I agree with grumpy #2.. Tampa is not anything like Miami and Thank God for that! Tampa is a clean midsize tampa, primary language is english, great weather, fishing, professional and college sports, beautiful beaches within 30 minutes and the city has tons of character. Tampa has excellent nightlife compared to other cities similar in size. I do admit traffic in Tampa is really bad and public transit is even worse. However most mid-to-large size cities have bad traffic but at least Tampa provides you with views of the bay when your stuck in

Boring, dull, stinky - 12/5/2006
Tampa is really, rather boring. The cost of living is moderately low but wages are also low. The weather is nice during fall, winter and spring, but horrendously, horridly hot and unbearably muggy during the summer. If you love sports there is plenty of football, and golf, but otherwise most people here are not the outdoorsy exercise type. As a matter of fact, Florida is one of the fattest states, which is obvious when you come here and see the large elephant ratio. If you like the water, you will love the beach, except when we get red tide in the summer which perfumes the entire bay. Also, there is a lot of sulphur around so expect some stinky mornings. Cultural activities are hard to find and when you do, make sure that you bring plenty of cash because you will be charged for parking and admission. Nothing is free here. If you suffer from allergies, run as fast as you can, as Tampa scores very high in the list of cities with nasty air quality. Honestly really, just don't come

Tampa: I've lived here about 20 years.. heres the - 12/2/2006
I lived in Miami the other 6 years of my life when I was like 2yrs to 8yrs old.
Tampa has its good and bad areas. The super rich areas are like Waterchase, Avala, private land owners, citrus park area, some of new tampa. Really bad areas are anywhere by the projects. Like Robles Park, College Hill, Fletcher and 15th, then everywhere else is pretty much medium. There are alot of strip clubs, which personally I think is a good thing. Theres also alot of Drug dealers and Addicts. There is not as many Gangs as their used to be in the 90's, but from what other people tell me from other states say it is high still. Theres alot of crazy/bad drivers here. Everything is pretty much run by republicans. There is not alot of good activities for people age 18-30. We have Ybor City and Channelside but that gets pretty old quick. Busch Gardens and Adventure Island are fun for a while. The beaches and fishing and Golf is good also. Clearwater beach is probuly my Favorite or Sand Key.

boring - 11/24/2006
first i will say, for a young single person or young minded person , you may become BORED with this city. if you are coming from a big city, be prepared to see the city as almost looking like a ghostown downtown and many other parts. a lot of the downtown and inner city is run down. of course if you go out farther north you'll see nicer areas. have been here a little over a month so havent gotten the full perspective. if it matters to you the public transit is not very well developed at all. many buses stop running at 7pm. if you think this is anything like miami, they are nothing a like. they are both in south florida , that's it. tampa is more like louisville, ky. than miami. this has a "country" type feel to it. the city seems slow and almost asleep. a lot seniors seem to be here as well. the city itself seems old. tough crime in inner

"Bubble," yes... Worth it? Hell, no! - 10/28/2006
I've seen greener pastures, and they are green because of proper cultivation, not due to the mound of excrement that lies beneath Tampa. Sure, there is a "bubble" across the country. Doubling in value? Doubt that's country-wide. Pony up, eh? When the wages rise to meet the housing costs, I still wouldn't pay $250,000 for a 3-bedroom on a
