It's hot in here - 4/27/2006
Very hot and humid in summer. You have to expect that if you live in Florida, so if you do not like that type of weather, don't move here. The traffic is also sometimes

Tampa - mostly pros; some cons - 4/24/2006
Pros:
Tampa is a great place for to live overall. It has awesome beaches, professional sports (Bucs, Lightening, Devil Rays), wonderful deep-sea fishing and boating, friendly people, good shopping, and a variety of places to live. There are parts of the city for sophisticated city people (South Tampa/Hyde Park), single 20 somethings (Howard Avenue, Channelside), starter families (Brandon), upscale suburban families focused on top schools (New Tampa, Fishhawk), and college students (USF, University of Tampa). You can shop at several great malls (International Mall - very high-end stores, Citrus Park, Westshore, etc.) and there are endless restaurants of every type. You don't need to speak Spanish to live here (unlike Miami), but there are parts of the city where you can speak Spanish if you prefer. The main entertainment districts are Ybor City (historic Cuban cigar district - now endless nightclubs with mainly 20ish crowd), Channelside (more upscale, 25+ crowd),

Tampa Real Estate - 4/15/2006
We have enjoyed significant apreciation over the past three years. Now the sales of existing homes has slowed to a trickle since October of 2005. It is now April 15th 2006. When buying a home in Florida be sure to check into both flood and hurricane insurances for the home you are choosing. You may also want to be aware of sinkhole risks and property insurances pertaining to them. Education is also a problem in

Property Investment - 4/15/2006
Since we have faced the inflation and high interest rate, all the residential proptery transaction declines. In other words, market value of the current property is either frozen or declined.
In my point of view, it is even better opportunity to invest with better selection and purchase price.

Tampa, some good, some not so good... - 3/26/2006
I agree with David's comment. I have lived in the Tampa area for 13 years and then for about 6 years as a teen/young adult. I am now a middle-aged single woman and plan to leave as soon as I complete my graduate degree in mental health counseling. Tampa has been trying to be a sophisticated, world-class city for some time now. But Tampa's a long way away from being a world-class city (although things have certainly improved) and most of the sophistication is located in South Tampa, where most of the wealthiest residents live. There are other nice areas in Tampa and Hillsborough County, but there's a lot of very country, and un-educated population here too. I've heard it said that Tampa is basically a "working man's town," and I thought that wasn't true, but then I realize, it pretty much is true. Tampa is "working man's town" trying to be a sophisticated cosmopolitan city, but just not quite making it(in spite of the building boom and even Mr. Trump building here.) One way you

Sunny Climate. Dark Undertones. - 2/26/2006
Tampa is beautiful, full of palm trees, lakes, sunny skies and white sandy beaches. I'm convinced that Tampa is one of the best places to visit on vacation in the US. There's actually much more to do than Orlando and you can always drive over there to get your Disney fix (it's only 45 minutes to an hour from Tampa).
If you've visited Tampa, you may have thought about living here. Plenty of people do love it. However, there are quite a few cons to living down here that it's taken us 3 years to fully understand. Before you move down here, you should know the cons...
1. Lots of weird religious stuff: witchcraft, scientology, cults (even some Protestant churches are more "out there" than you might find in Northern and Western cities)
2. High crime (burglary and robbery; also assualt, rape, murder)
3. Large parts of the city are run down (in need of major renovation; blown out signs; run-down trailer parks next to a million-dollar

Ybor City - 1/15/2006
Ybor City has long been neglected in revitalization and development. Times they are a changing. Lots of people are now moving to and investing in this interesting historical neighborhood. Ybor is known for it's entertainment district and beautiful old homes. Only minutes to downtown and ...Tampa's interstates run right through Ybor-you are the center of everything the bay area has to offer. If you are thinking of living and/or doing business in the bay area, please google Ybor and see the possibilities. Enjoy
