The weather is amazing! - 7/21/2009
I moved to Tampa mostly for the climate. I have lived here now for approximately 1 year and I enjoy it. I love the diversity here, the shopping options, the proximity to the beaches and other Florida hotspots. The only downfall to this area is the traffic and congestion. They are continously attempting to improve the flow of traffic. It's also a very pockety city, in that many of the million dollar homes back up to trailer parks. Other than that, its Read More

ALL about TAMPA - 7/12/2009
Well I sat here and read several reviews on Tampa and I noticed that some I did agree with and some I have never seen myself. The pros and cons of tampa... hum... I have lived in for about 6 years and some years like it and some years I do not. I am originally from california just wanted to share that to give you perspective. THe things I like about Tampa is the beauty of the downtown architecture, the amenities and size of the city is nice and small but you still have almost everything to do here and in the winter months even more because the snowbirds bring the money and that really makes the are come alive. The beaches are MUCH nicer here than in CA but I do wish the water was cooler in the summer. It really gets hot since it is in the GULF. 1 problem though is you have to remember to shuffle your feet or you might step on a RAy and then your n a world of hurt and remember there are SHARks every where but at least the water is too cloudy to see them. The summer heat is VERY VERY Read More

Hot and Humid - 7/7/2009
6 months out of the year, the weather is almost unbearable. However, the other 6 months are the most wonderful I've ever experienced. Just don't be afraid to sweat a little and you'll be ok. Summer=Rain so pack an umbrella for the sunny mornings and the rainy Read More

living in tampa - 7/1/2009
I've been in Tampa nearly 23 years,it's an okay place, but with the rising cost of living, which is not only here, times have gotten really hard. Not a good place to raise children, crime rate is high. Not a good place for retirees either, cost of living is too high.In the process of looking for a quite countrylike setting, with a low crime rate and friendly people,to seetle down with me and my Read More

Where to go???? - 2/21/2009
So every city has drawbacks. I've lived in Minneapolis, MN most of my adult years (only 34 though) and am done. It's clean, cultured and friendly....cost of living is high and winter is 4-6 months. The lack of sun it killing me. Most of the winter has been -10 to 20 degrees. Oh, and when you are single. It is two degrees of seperation. Everyone is connected unless you are new to the Twin Cities.

I've also lived in Tampa and San Fran. I looked at San Diego but how does one afford to live without having two jobs. I'm debating between going back to Tampa. I've been looking into Austin. I would like to be near the ocean or in driveable distance. I love water sports and love to scuba dive. I don't mind hot and humid. I liked knowing in Tampa when it would rain in the summers. Everyday around 3 or 4 pm.

So..I am looking for feedback. I'm looking for a place I can settle down and live for years and eventually raise a family. Where does a single, Read More

white moms blues-think twice before you move here - 1/31/2009
I lived in an apartment in tampa for 7 months. I was among the 5% of the white american race compared to the 90 % hispanic. The moms did not want anything to do with me. I have 2 children. My 6 year old was constantly bullied to play with agressive children.I was constantly gauked at and had spanish talking to behind my back. Some words I understood were not very pleasant. I would not leave my apartment without my husband in the end._Don't even think of moving here unless you are a student on campus or you completely speak Read More

Love It - 1/26/2009
I recently moved to Tampa and I love it so far. The only con I have to mention is the constant construction zones that don't seem to be getting attention and backed up traffic. Other than that I am loving it so far. I am a lover of the arts and there seems to always be someone here in concert, there are plenty of museums, wine tastings, restaurant specials , comedy shows, theater stage shows, night clubs and palm trees. What's not to love, other than traffic that Read More

Great Place to Live, but it has problems - 12/28/2008
Tampa is a very comfortable, livable city. It is VERY HOT HERE. Very humid. While the cityscape accentuates the outdoors, most people here are not the outdoorsy type. Beyond the water, there is not a whole lot to do.

Like other cities, there is biking, team sports, etc. But it is very flat, and very Read More

Tampa Is The Pits!!!!! - 12/8/2008
I resided in Tampa for 6yrs. I relocated with my then fiance from New York City. Bad move. Don't get me wrong Tampa is beautiful in terms of the weather, the scenery place to go and eat. However Tampa lacks culture, the wages are extremely low!!!! It's really a family state or a retirement state. Not for singles or people who are looking to network with those on a highter level. The job market also lacks professionalism and it's difficult to move up in a career. The school systems are not that great, they say the cost of living is so much cheaper which I still did not find. To live nice and in a decent neighborhood be prepared to pay $1350 or better. I have moved back to New York for better opportunity than what I found in Tampa for the last 6yrs years. Maybe there is crime and other issues with New York but it is diverse I have white friends, black friends asian friends and we all hang out without getting the funny looks or stares. Trust it's none of that in Read More
