What BestPlaces Users Say about West Palm Beach

West Palm Beach, Florida is a popular place for both tourists and residents alike. It boasts beautiful beaches, year-round warm weather, and a vibrant downtown area. However, like any city, it also has its drawbacks. To get a better understanding of what it's like to live in West Palm Beach, I have included some excerpts from user reviews on BestPlaces.net.

According to user "Jasmine," West Palm Beach is a "great place to live" with "plenty of things to do." She mentions the city's "beautiful parks and beaches" as well as its "diverse food scene." However, she also notes that the cost of living is high and traffic can be a major issue.

Another user, "Mark," has mixed feelings about West Palm Beach. He mentions the "gorgeous weather and scenery," but also points out the "massive amount of traffic" and "lack of job opportunities" as major downsides. He adds that the city is "not very pedestrian-friendly" and that "crime can be a problem in certain areas."

On the other hand, user "Kelly" highly recommends West Palm Beach. She describes it as a "tropical paradise" with a "laid-back vibe." She also mentions the "friendly and welcoming community" and the "numerous outdoor activities" available. However, she does mention that housing prices can be steep and that the city can feel "overcrowded" during peak tourist season.

One user, "Mike," has a more negative view of West Palm Beach. He mentions the "constant construction" and "lack of affordable housing" as major complaints. He also notes that the city can feel "too touristy" and that the "nightlife scene is lacking."

In conclusion, while West Palm Beach offers many attractive features, it also has its share of drawbacks. High cost of living, traffic, and crime seem to be common concerns among reviewers. However, others appreciate the city's warm climate and diverse culture. Ultimately, whether or not West Palm Beach is the right place to live will depend on individual preferences and priorities.

Ive lived in West Palm Beach/palm Beach County 38 years and seen alot of changes. I miss the smaller town feel. Now with over a million in county, high traffic, increasing crime, crazy home prices, no affordable housing and incomming bio research city, iam afraid this will become the next San Diego. Income demographics are changing and with not feeling as safe as i used to, i will be moving to a smaller town in NC. But if you are retired, dont like the cold winters, like the ocean, theres room for you Read More

Goodbye So FL -- hello Pensacola... - 6/22/2006
I've called South Florida home for over 16 years and for me it's always spelled fun and diversity. Fourteen of those years were spent in Ft. Lauderdale, which long ago shed its spring break identity and evolved into a beautiful, sophisticated city, filled with many enjoyable activities. West Palm Beach is beginning to achieve its potential, with a mix of high-rise condo construction, equalized by a total revitalization of the deteriorated urban parts of town. Miami "rocks," as always, and The Keys are ever a string of eternal beaches, peppered with token beach bums. Florida is no longer considered the blue-hair state. It's a place that doesn’t age and where age doesn't matter. Given the number of outdoor activities available, balanced with an abundance of cultural outlets; there is something for everyone -- and everyone does it together. Now I am moving to Pensacola, FL, to be 600 miles closer to my aging parents, and I cross my fingers with hope that my upcoming experience in Read More

If you plan on relocating to the West Palm Beach area, be forewarned: There is little pleasure in this paradise. West Palm Beach is west of one of the wealthiest cities in America, Palm Beach. However, West Palm Beach itself is relatively poor. As such, there is a lot of crime here, particularly murders and carjackings. If you are from a major metropolitan city, then perhaps you might be used to this, but it still is quite a bit for a town of roughly 80,000 or Read More

Piece of Works - 4/25/2006
My family has been complaining about Miami for years. Originally from CT, we could not believe the fuss over Miami- it is lacking of all great qualitys of a city. There is no culture- it is only Spanish or American. Nothing like NYC, where you can experience all languages and cultures. Or Paris,Rome,Florence,San Francisco, LA, even Chicago. I lived in Florence, and even residing their for a short while they expected me to try to learn the language( which I did with glee). In South Florida, no one cares to learn English- that would be considered rude over in Europe- to live in another country and not try to learn their language after so much time. People are ridiculously rude here. I am a female and hold open doors for people- it is a special occurance when a thank you is muttered. It really is a class act down here. The dating scene- even worse. Everything is free for girls which is great, but as far as the guys go- they are as fake as they can get. You'll hear the best pick up lines- Read More
