What BestPlaces Users Say about Dahlonega

Located in the foothills of the North Georgia mountains, Dahlonega is a charming small town known for its rich history, outdoor activities, and vibrant arts and culture scene. With a population of just over 7,000, this tight-knit community offers a peaceful and picturesque setting for residents. To get a better understanding of what it's like to live in Dahlonega, I have compiled and summarized user reviews from BestPlaces.net.

According to John, who has lived in Dahlonega for 10 years, the town has a "strong sense of community" and "friendly, welcoming people." He also notes the abundance of outdoor activities, stating that "there is always something to do for nature lovers." Similarly, Sarah, a 5-year resident, praises the town's "beautiful scenery and peaceful atmosphere." She adds, "Dahlonega is a great place to raise a family and escape the hustle and bustle of city life."

However, not all reviews are glowing. Patricia, a former resident, mentions the lack of job opportunities in Dahlonega as a major drawback. She also notes the town's "limited options for shopping and dining." Another reviewer, Diane, shares similar sentiments, stating that "the cost of living is high for such a small town, and the job market is very limited."

Despite some criticisms, many reviewers express their love for Dahlonega and its small-town charm. As Samantha puts it, "Dahlonega may not have all the amenities of a big city, but it has a certain charm and character that you won't find anywhere else." The overall consensus among users is that Dahlonega is a peaceful and friendly community, perfect for nature lovers and those seeking a slower pace of life.

Wonderful little town in a beautiful setting - 12/3/2022
Dahlonega is beautiful, the town is quaint and the people are kind. Dahlonega appreciates, celebrates and preserves the traditions of the past without being afraid to accept the progressiveness of the future. There is a wonderful mix of ages here due to the army rangers, the college and the appeal of retirement in the beautiful north Georgia mountains. The elementary school staff are wonderful, and what they can accomplish with such a huge student population is impressive to say the least. I’d love to see more full time residents and less short term rentals, but I can understand why so many folks love to vacation in Dahlonega. It’s like stepping one foot into the past while keeping one foot in the future. I would love to see more city parks and playgrounds here someday. Appealing to younger families is the best way to ensure Dahlonega’s Read More

Corrupt Officials - 10/27/2012
I moved to Dahlonega because it was pretty and inexpensive. I recommend visiting the area for its many attractions, but NEVER MOVE HERE!

Its elected officials are all part of the good ol' boy network and they're ruining a small town with their very illegal acts. How many Superior Court Judges were fired this year? (oh wait, that's right, they "resigned")

The "new sheriff in town" is just as dirty as the old one was, he's just sneakier about it.

I truly believe there are good people here - but unfortunately they're not in charge. It's run by arrogant white southern men - who cover each others' illegal acts...

The good will prevail - but not before a whole lotta' shakin' goes Read More
