Its growing fast. Hurry - 4/5/2019
ive lived in Dallas now for 4 years now and I have seen the tremendous growth. Yes it's still Lacks great restaurants but Hiram Georgia is right up the street barium the parts are fantastic and the main square is attractive to. I am from Los Angeles so having a sense of rural atmosphere and only about 40 minutes from Atlanta gives it a nice balance. One thing that is attractive is the crime compared to other cities in the Atlanta metro Paulding is one of the lowest so I feel very safe in my neighborhood. Also the school district Paulding County unified as fantastic as well. trust my reviews that I have lived in many big cities and this has a nice Read More

Sad - 9/15/2017
I can't believe the amount of crime in Dallas/Paulding county these days!
There is literally something happening all the time.
Murders, shootings, break ins, stealing, vandalism, rocks being thrown at windshields while going down 61.
Sad that my kids don't know the Paulding county that I once did. Read More

Not the same great town I grew up in!!! - 11/8/2015
Dallas,Georgia is where my husband and I grew up. It used to be a small town where everyone knew everyone, but it has been diluted by outsiders. It grew too fast also. I remember when you could go to Walmart and knew a lot of people that were also there. It was wholesome, a lot of people call the original locals " rednecks or hicks", we were hard working, not afraid to get your hands dirty people. People that would give you their shirts if you needed it. It's not like that anymore, I just couldn't raise my kids there, like it is now, so we moved 350 miles away. It saddens me what Dallas, Hiram, and Paulding County have become. Read More

Illegal Burning including trash & copper wire - 3/31/2012
I live in East Paulding County (address is Dallas) and county officials here disregard Ga state law & Ga Forestry Commission regulations about outdoor debris burning (both require a permit for debris burning). Paulding also ignores all additional regulations required for counties with populations over 65,000 (2010 census, Paulding had 143,000+). These regulations are in place to protect air quality & human health. Enforcement is virtually non-existent as repeat violators are simply repeatedly warned. And people who call in complaints are treated like the problem.

This past year, in addition to the excessive amounts of debris burning, many people have noticed toxic burning plastic smells from 3 different areas in this community (possibly copper thieves burning wire) but nothing is being done because there aren't enough people officially filing complaints. (And who can blame them with the attitude of local fire Dept.)
I was fine a year ago, but now have damage to my Read More

why not to move here - 6/11/2009
If you are used to living in bigger cities this is not the place to move. Coming from the Tampa area, I feel like I have taken a trip in a time machine. I thought smaller cities would welcome you and make you feel comfortable. This place is nothing like that. As far as specifics, when dealing with getting water turned on or our garbage collected be prepared to deal with people that think you are an annoyance just for asking for your city services. If you are used to recycling you are going to have to drive your recyclables to the landfill, they don't have curbside pickup. The cops here are everywhere, I have seen more cops here then in Tampa. Which I don't understand, there doesn't seem to be much crime here other then people speeding. If you have children, there is nothing for them to do. I can't even find a playground close to me for my child to play in and I live pretty close to downtown Dallas. In short, if you like to recycle, do things with your children, or like Read More

local 'redneck' haven - 7/20/2007
Dallas, Georgia has a lot going for it. Housing costs are very reasonable. The climate is moderate ... winters are very mild. Like all metro-Atlanta suburbs, traffic is a growing problem. While transplants from all over the world are diluting the redneck pool, the dominate culture remains backward and decidedly hickish. I have no idea where the cliche about 'Southern hospitality' originated, but it should be listed at the top of the list of 'urban legions'. 'Southern hospitality' is a myth ... it's a thin veneer that hides deep rooted hostility toward Read More

Dallas/Hiram Is a Good Area - 12/31/2006
Dallas and Hiram are "twin" cities. The population around them is far greater than the listed amounts. The towns themselves are still small but all the surrounding neighborhoods and shopping is great. It's a great area to live, a lot of new houses and businesses. You can avoid the heart of the interstate mess that is Atlanta when traveling north or south and west, east is another matter. Good proximity to the airport and if you know how to go you have easy in and out to Braves/Falcons/Hawks/Thrashers (No I75 necessary) Plenty of good shopping and Town Center Mall in Kennesaw is less than 1/2 hour away. Paulding county is a great county to live Read More
