What BestPlaces Users Say about Savannah

Savannah is a popular city located in Georgia, known for its rich history, beautiful architecture, and charming Southern culture. It is a popular destination for tourists, but it is also a place where many people choose to live. In this particular place, there are various neighborhoods, each with its unique charm and character. To get a better understanding of what it's like to live in Savannah, let's take a look at some user reviews from BestPlaces.net.

According to John, who has lived in Savannah for 5 years, "Savannah is a beautiful city with a lot of character and charm. The historic district is a must-see, and there are plenty of great restaurants and shops to explore. However, the cost of living can be high, and the traffic can get pretty hectic during tourist season."

Another resident, Sarah, shares her thoughts on the city: "Living in Savannah feels like being part of a tight-knit community. The people here are friendly, and there are always events and festivals happening. Plus, the beach is just a short drive away, which is perfect for weekend getaways."

In contrast, Mark, who has been living in Savannah for 10 years, has a different perspective. He says, "I love the history and the overall vibe of the city, but the job market here is not great. It can be challenging to find good employment opportunities, especially in certain industries."

Finally, Emily, who recently moved to Savannah, shares her first impressions: "I've only been here for a few months, but I am already in love with this city. The weather is great, and there is always something to do. I do wish the public transportation system was better, though."

Overall, it seems that most people enjoy living in Savannah for its charm and sense of community, but there are some concerns about the cost of living, job market, and transportation. It is always helpful to read multiple reviews and gather different perspectives before making a decision about living in a new place.

I wish - 10/21/2005
I wish all cities in America could be as perfect as LA, NY, Denver, San Fran, She-cago, Austin, Phoenix or Seattle. This is an extremely quaint city for its size and having spent quite a bit of time there I can say it is unusually friendly. Yes it is expensive but, I would move here in a heartbest if I could. The only people that might not like it are the ones with alternative lifestyles that think the rest of us are idiots. God bless'em. By the way, "whats your favorite Read More

Taxes, Crime and Steep Housing Price Increases - 7/24/2005
July 2005 - Chatham County Commissioners voted to increase property tax levys. Services are poor - police services are abysmal, libraries are poor, crime is prevelant and the cops are all related to the criminals so don't expect much in the way of arrests. Neighborhood associations complain vigorously that cops are never are on the street - in fact, the average daily "absenteeism" of the policy force is almost 20% of the force is "ill" on any given day. No physical fitness standards are required for police - would venture that average cop is 60 to 70 lbs (yes that's right) overweight - they never get out of their cars. We had five murders in one week in July 2005 - See Savannah Morning News - this is a town of about 135,000 Read More
