Miserable, miserable, miserable
- 8/4/2021
I hate to be so harsh on this place. The majority of people are here against their will. It’s low income, not a lot of job opportunities, and a place that’s hard to escape from if you’re raised here. That being said, it is miserable here. There is no sort of life for a semi-outgoing 25-35 year old to be had here. Don’t move here unless your life depends on

Rust Belt Wasteland
- 6/13/2021
Old factory town filled with rednecks and crime. A prime drug trading spot for gangs from Chicago and Detroit, this town has it all! With below par water and air safety quality, high crime, terrible weather, and lack of opportunities outside crime or factory work, no wonder it's affordable. Housing is cheap, but for that you get a crime-ridden cesspool of a city with poor infrastructure and truly awful public schools. There are plenty of parks though, and if you don't mind finding shell casings and hypodermic needles along your walls, the trails are quite nice the two or three months of the year it isn't covered in snow or

Dull, boring, unsafe town far away from big cities
- 5/24/2020
Extremely boring town with hardly any social activities to partake in. Lots of parks. Markland mall, restaurants around SR31 around Alto and the YMCA in the so called "downtown" area are the only things saving myself from killing me from boredom. There are low income communities here and the only reason keeping me from leaving is the short commute to Delphi/Aptiv and a few of my colleagues living here. As a highly educated and high earning immigrant, I have personally experienced a lot of racism, strange looks from a lot of people in Walmart, Kroger and an overall unwelcome feeling in this town. Dearth of options for entertainment and lack of educated young professionals. The roads here are good in some areas (Lincoln) however absolutely horrible near the Foster park, and Dixon Road among others. The local authorities here don't care much about the fact that roads here are on par with some of the worst third world countries.
On the positive side, there are good parks here, a

For property and nature lovers
- 6/12/2018
Kokomo is more inexpensive place to live. The rolling hills, multiple creeks, and abundance of the biggest deer, hawks, eagles and owls. It enables blue collar workers to live like doctors or lawyers. Many blue collar workers wives are able to stay home and raise their children due to the high paying jobs at Chrysler.
If you are a professional and don’t mind a 50 min. Commute to Carmel or Westfield IN, you could literally build a mansion for a great price.
There is a lot of personal freedom when you can purchase 2-20 acres of your own land.
Nature activities include hunting, fishing and hiking. One of the most beautiful reservoirs called Missisenewa is 40 min away. Peru, IN is an original circus town and is fun to visit. Other small towns have little festivals that are fun too. Driving in the country and getting lost is fun. We made friends with farmers and my daughter now is an Agribusiness major at Purdue.
The schools are excellent and more safe.

I wouldn’t recommend this place in a billion years
- 5/7/2018
I understand that every place has the good with the bad....but this place has more of the bad.
If you like to be around slovenly, uneducated and narrow-minded people then Kokomo is the place for you. That’s the type of “person” who resides here mainly. But if you don’t enjoy that or you don’t enjoy doing meth, walking around with your hair unwashed and unkempt and in your nasty pajamas you bought from Walmart then I suggest you steer clear of this place. This town is basically a giant WalMart if you want a clear idea of the demographic that mostly resides here. You could probably contract an STD by certain people glancing at you. It makes you want to take a shower, read at least a college reading level book, pray, and mediate to cleanse your body, mind, and spirit from the ignorance and filth.
The pros of this place; let’s see...well there’s okay weather and soil for having a vegetable garden, but the weather itself can be quite unpredictable much of the time.

Used to be nice place
- 1/4/2018
Small town, lots of drugs. Horrible roads. Unless you’re a Dr., lawyer, nurse, or work at Chrysler there’s no good paying jobs.
I honestly can’t find anything good to say about the place I grew up. It’d definitely not the good small town it used to be. There’s nothing to do here. We do have some bike trails. But if you’re lucky you can use them April-Oct. The weather is awful a lot of the time. Even the weather is worse than it used to

I only live here because I was stupid as young person and bought my mothers house, Kokomo politicians and others have no respect for me and my property and I have totally lost respect for Kokomo because of them, city workers damaged my property then will not replace it for its value, I was not asking sentimental value just what to replace all, but no they are trying to screw

It's not Park Slope
- 5/12/2013
I've lived near Kokomo for a year and a half. I'm here because my elderly parents are here; I probably wouldn't have moved here just to do it. That said, there are worse places. It is hard to find a job with more than an associates degree. I have a master's in history and I might as well be an alien species. I haven't found many friends here, but I don't hate it. There is a good Thai restaurant, a good brewery and restaurant, and plenty of good Mexican restaurants. You can find a yoga or pilates class if you want, there's a little Asian market, and they have been working hard to make the downtown more beautiful and arty. There are festivals and farmer's markets in the summer. My situation is this: I'm a 34 year old introvert with a serious boyfriend who lives near Indy. I don't go out in Kokomo, and I'm a big reader, crafter, and internet user, so I'm fairly content. I go to see my boyfriend every weekend and do my going out down in Indy. If you're a young person with

Bored to Tears
- 2/22/2009
I recently moved to Kokomo and this is the worst city I have ever lived in. The people are small- minded. There are no jobs for anyone with more than a associate's degree. There is absolutely no quality night life here. My peers here seems to have low aspirations and no expectations of exploring and living life. Kokomo seems to sap the drive out of people. One more year and I'm out of here. The best aspect of Kokomo is that it is close to

Lifetime resident
- 10/26/2006
I am a lifetime resident of the Kokomo area. There are areas of the city where the crime is high, at night. If you use common sense (as in most cities) you will be safe.
There is public 1 golf course in Kokomo and 2 others in the county. There are several golf courses within a 50 mile radius. There are also 2 bowling alleys and a brand new movie theater. We also have 2 malls, although one is fairly bare when it comes to stores. I don't understand why because it is a nice mall. There are adequate things to do here and a ton of restaurants. And if you can't find anything to do in Kokomo, Indianapolis is only about an hour away.
The only real complaint I have about Kokomo is the weather in the winter. If you don't mind cold weather from November-March and snow from December-February, then Kokomo isn't a bad place to
