I will always call New Castle.. Home. I do have such wonderful memories there. When I moved there because my Dad's job had relocated, it was not only his home town but my Mom's also, I was in the 5th grade. A classmate made friends with me right off the bat. Today, more than 45 yrs later, we are still best friends. I do admit, going back "home" is depressing. New Castle is drying up. The town relied so much on the Chrysler Corp., that when it went..so went the town. Neighborhoods are turning into nothing but delapated areas. Houses and buisness stand empty, inviting young deliquents to vandalize further. If the City would just order for these places to be torn down, perhaps, just perhaps, the city would not look so depressing. It is sad. I go back to see family and my freind. If not for that...there would be no reason to go. It will end up like other towns... a place you drive THRU, not Read More

What a does not have to offer - 4/26/2011
I grew up in New Castle and am sad to say I will never go back. New Castle has no jobs and is close to ghost town. The town is one big courthouse, prison or work release program. The system has gone to "pot" it seems that everyone that stays in the town ends up paying for it with their freedom. The police, sheriff, probation and Judges seem to make up most of the towns working population. You would think that the law makers would get that the system isn't working and its getting worse. The crime rate shows it, New Caslte keeps arresting the same people taking what little bit of money they have for bonds lawyers etc. turning them back to the streets with out any kind of rehabilitation only to return to jail. New Castle has become a place to die or go to prison, most of the population has no way to get out of the town. No job to work to save up to leave, only idle time, once the police get their names they are marked only to be arrested over and over. I was one of the lucky ones who got Read More

Should rename the City Old Castle - 1/21/2010
It's a shame that a City would be as "tight" as they are to hold onto a primitive lifestyle as they do. There are a multitude of abanndoned buildings. There are NO jobs here that are able to sustain a comfortable living for a new family. In my opinion, the only reason a person would live here is because they are ready to give up on life or they are already "in" with city officials. The town is litterally a ghost town. There is no entertainment avenues available and the only real thing they have in the way of shopping is Wal-Mart. The school system is only concerned with discipline and how to maintain the "go-nowhere" presence that the elderly have set as the mindset. If you are not "nose to the ground do as I say", you will crumble here. It is a depressing city that's prime has LONG since past. Any new idea to create anything worth fighting for is stamped out before it gets a chance to breathe. If you are looking for a town that has control of it's populous, then this is your Read More
