Dixie Highway - 4/26/2012
The Dixie Highway is the main route between Elizabethtown and Fort Knox. Almost all of the shopping and service centers are located along this route. The problem is that this route was designed when Elizabethtown, Rineyville, and Radcliff had much less people and less business. The route has too many stop lights that make a 17 mile trip take 40 minutes on average. There are plans to create a high-speed bypass, but it may be several years before it is Read More

Home, Sweet Home - 12/7/2010
I have lived in Elizabethtown, KY since returning from a 29 year tour of Europe. I am employed by Defense Department at Fort Knox. I'm not rich but I live well. To speak of Kentucky, you have to address the people. The locals are friendly, generous and honest. They sometimes give the impression of being "simple" but that is just plain down-home hospitality. They're not backwards or "country" or any other derogatory term. They love the life they live. Housing is affordable, services adequate (but not fancy) and simply put, you've got everything you need. If you want more, Louisville is only 40 minutes to the north. Cincinnati is about 150 miles northeast and Nashville the same but southwest. Louisville Intl. Airport (SDF) is a Delta, Southwest, Continental, US Air stop with many direct flights to ATL, ORD, STL and DCI. We have four seasons and when its green, its very green. Summer is hot! Not too much snow falls but we do get ice storms and remember, this is not up north Read More

moved to Elizabethtown 8 yrs ago.our family cant wait to move. It has to be the most boring city in the world!Nothing to do and what little there is here, its ran down and very unkept like the bowling alley. Its almost in Radcliff and the ran down skating rink and no city pool. For a city this size, people you could be living in a place like Bardstown. The housing and entertainment is so much cheaper. It still has that small town feel.Dont have to drive miles and miles to get from point a to point b,for nothing. This CITY needs to get with the times then we might see a population Read More

Elizabethtown KY, great place to live. - 10/9/2009
Our family just moved into the Elizabethtown area a few months ago and we love it!!! It is a great place to raise a family. It has a great small town feel, (I would guess about 30,000 pop.) with everything that you need. It is a very well kept town. The people here are so nice. We are very pleased with the schools in the area. Elizabethtown Independent Schools have great test scores and are very small in comparison to the county schools, however, Central High School is a larger school and has lots to offer. Louisville is less than an hour away to the north and Nashville, TN is about 2+ hours away to the south. Hardin County is a dry county (no bars and strip clubs) which some people may not like, but with all the problems with alcohol these days, I am fine with that,(again great place to raise kids). Cost of living is much more affordable compared with other places we have Read More

My family moved here 7yrs ago. we are from a very small town in Illinois.I dont understand why a town this size would have no entertainment for adults or teens. There is a skating rink outside the city limits of E-town.A bowling alley that has nothing to offer as far as for teens. It is very unkept.I have been looking aroud the area and came upon a place that has alot to offer and puts pride in having entertainment for all ages. Bardstown has a population of 26,000 and has so much more then Elizabethtown.People who have been here, for many years tell me there has never been anything to offer. This could be a great place to live and who ever has control over the entertainment really need to step up to the Read More
