Prestonsburg! A great little place. - 7/6/2022
Living the past 30 years in the dry desert of the southwest, my family and I spent the past 3-years looking at potential states to move too. Some place green! We finally settled on Kentucky for a number of reasons. The breathtaking beauty of this state is second to none, a very reasonable cost of living, relatively mild weather, and genuinely good people.
My family and I took a 10-day trip to an amazing 5-bedroom, 4-bath B&B on a private lake just outside Prestonsburg in late April. This area is in the southeastern portion of the state, nestled among the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The area has an average elevation of less than 700 feet, and is much less than the 4,500-foot elevation we are used to. Where we currently live, we average less than 10 inches of precipitation, whereas Kentucky average more than 48 inches!
