Plaquemine is a Picturesque Perfect Place - 1/17/2010
Plaquemine is a delightful place to live in every way. We have a very interesting eclectic mix of high income people from all over the world due to the strong presence of DOW Chemical and CoPolymer Corp, and lovely native French Creole and Cajun people. There is a strong Jewish presence with Louisiana's current very good looking Attorney General being from here.
Celebrities in numbers are often seen at the International Acadian Festival held annually and the local Mardi Gras continues to grow in both regional and tourist popularity.
THE TOWN IS GORGEOUS!!! It looks like a small European village mixed with small Caribbean village mixed with the pretty parts of New Orleans. Most of the European settlers who came here were already gentry classed when they arrived in the 1700's and early 1800's from Europe and it shows in the architecture and attitudes of the people.
