Crime Fears are Overblown - 1/1/2016
I have lived in Owings Mills for 22 years. I have experienced NO crime, with the exception of a stolen children's bicycle once. I live in a pleasant neighborhood with single family homes. It is quiet, my area has a lot of trees, and in Owings Mills New Town is a good grocery store, Starbucks, etc. There are also a number of restaurants in Owings Mills, not to mention good chain hotels including Hilton Garden Inn and Hampton Inn, with Holiday Inn on its way. What folks are reacting to is the fact that Owings Mills has become majority black...although far from entirely black. That's a deal-breaker for a lot of people. Crime is Growing - 9/3/2010
I lived in the Owings Mills community for 30 years (2010-1980) and this area is infested with gangs, drugs, shootings, and section 8 housing. Ever since they built the Owings Mills metro people from the city travel to Owings Mills and disperse out. This area is getting to be like Randallstown and Woodlawn. I am giving it 3-5 years from now 2010 that this area is going to be like West Baltimore City "part 2"..This area is become more "ghetto" everyday and full of illegal immigrants. I certainly would not recommend this area to anyone. I'm glad that I have moved out of Owings Mills and don't plan ever moving back there. Good luck to the people that are currently living there and the ones who are contemplating living there...You're gonna need Read More
