Upper Marlboro: Beautiful Historic Horse Country - 7/19/2023
Upper Marlboro is in many ways a difficult place to find. The actual town of Upper Marlboro is very small---located along Route 4 and Old Marlboro Pike---the town was the county seat of Prince George's County dating back to the 1600s. In this stretch you will find the Court House, government buildings, library, and several quaint antebellum homes that have been redone or sadly, are up for sale. Trinity Episcopal Church and the now closed Queen Anne School/Upper Marlboro Country Club served this set of landed gentry. The hunt and horse club list of blue bloods still exists, with the generations now living in the rural tier of Prince George's County, southern Anne Arundel and Calvert, as a result of white flight.
Most of what is now called Upper Marlboro is unincorporated villages and open land. They are all very different from one another, housing stock is tremendously varied, and you would need a real estate agent to break the area down by zip code to understand home
