Waldorf, Maryland is a small town located in Charles County. It has a population of about 72,000 people and is known for its affordable housing and strong sense of community. However, like any place, there are both positive and negative reviews from residents. According to several user reviews on bestplaces.net, living in Waldorf has its pros and cons. Many reviewers praise the town for its friendly and diverse community, while others mention concerns about crime and traffic. Overall, it seems that people have varying opinions about the quality of life in Waldorf.

One reviewer, Mary, shares her positive experience living in Waldorf, stating that "the people are friendly and welcoming" and that she feels "safe and comfortable" in the community. She also mentions the convenience of having "all the necessary amenities within a short drive."

On the other hand, another user, John, expresses concerns about the crime rate in Waldorf, stating that "property crimes and thefts are common." He also mentions issues with traffic and infrastructure, saying that "roads are congested and poorly maintained."

In contrast, Sarah praises the town's natural beauty and outdoor activities, saying that "Waldorf has many parks and trails to explore and enjoy." She also mentions that "living here has been great for my family, with good schools and safe neighborhoods."

However, not all families have had a positive experience in Waldorf. A reviewer named David shares his disappointment with the local school system, stating that "the schools here are overcrowded and underfunded." He also mentions the lack of diversity and job opportunities in the area.

Southern Maryland - 8/19/2010
I have lived in Southern Maryland most of my life. My family and I hate it here, the cost of living is way to high, schools are getting worse everyday, and the crime...lets not even talk about that. Sure we are close to DC, but who in there right mind wants to be around that mess. Can't wait to Read More

Spouse that struggles...what's my rights? - 7/15/2009
This ecomony is a big impact to everyone. From financial, marriage, bankruptcy...you name it. Now really what amazes me is the big thing. When someone has nowhere to turn too. I thought there's always authorities that you can rely on. Not in Waldorf.

I am silent now and solve it myself. Struggling financially that even my own office; i no longer belong. My best shot is keeping my mind clear and believe that every problem has a solution.

Waldorf? The authorities needs to look and pay a better attention to families that needing assistance specially when childrens are involve.

Hopefully someday I could share some input on how to resolve a problem thats been Read More

Extremely Poor Quality of Life - 1/28/2009
Waldorf has suffered from runnaway growth and poorly planned development. The town is a traffic nighmare and an eyesore. There is nothing but strip malls and traffic lights for miles and miles. Furthermore, as stated in a recent article in the Washington Post, the stores in Waldorf carry only the lowest quality merchandise - think dollar store quality. So, despite the miles and miles of strip malls, residents must travel outside the county to purchase acceptable quality goods. Finally, to top it all off - there has been a dramatic increase in the number of violent crimes committed in Waldorf. If you plan to live in Waldorf, you'll need to purchase an alarm system and lock your doors at night. I recently moved away and my stress level has decreased dramatically while my sense of happiness and well being has increased Read More

We've lived here for 5 yrs. Mixed of different cultures and views of life. My proffession is public service (REAL ESTATE)I'm affiliated with Century 21 H.T. Brown. I'm Tess Bonaguro originally from the Philippines. Bilingual and customer service orientated. We migrated here 15 years ago. Proud to be the Mother of a 19 yrs old full Filipino blood who dedicated himself to serve this country for our Freedom.

Waldorf is a fun place to be. Minutes from DC/VA (old town Alexandria). So many jobs sorrounding the area. A new Harbour mall just opened up and more business that still in progress and soon to be in operation.

Andrews/Bolling AFB is 30min/max in distance. Reagan Int'l airport is about 45 minutes. So many things to do and things to see.

If you’re RELOCATING or RETIRING; This is a great place to be.
