The Millionaire Next Door (Rich in Quality of Life - 9/6/2007
First of all, Maryland is a great place to live! Even though Maryland has been determined to be the wealthiest state in the U.S. by the census bureau; Waldorf, my quiet, unassuming small town is growing by leaps and bounds and may lose that "small town" flavor pretty soon.

Considered good by some, in that we get to share the wealth; considered bad by others, in that a little of the "small town" advantages may be sacrificed.

In the meantime, I'll continue to enjoy the advantages of living in a suburban neighborhood where I can enjoy my space, scenic wooded views, wildlife, friendly neighbors and lots of peace and quiet; while still having the luxury of getting in my car and driving 3 miles to all of the shopping, education, medical care, culture, and more that I ever wanted.

For now, I'm enjoying the best of both (Urban/Suburban) worlds. I'm living the simple life of having everything.
Sincerely,
Cheryl

Living in Waldorf - 5/20/2007
This is a close to perfect place to live.

The Good: education, people, close to the city w/o city life, shopping, eating, safety, housing, very clean. I moved to this area of Md from the city and I love it we first bought resale then built after we were sure this was were we wanted to be.

The Bad: racism, jobs, rush hr. traffic, hot humid summer, depressing winters.
For good gov jobs or tech jobs of course you need to go to the city and to go to the city means rush hr traffic jams that turns an average 30min commute to the city into an hr to hr and a half commute. I personally don't like extreme weather so harsh heat and extreme colds bother me.There are traces of racism in schools and hospitality venues but not with law enforcement which surprised me. There are traces of old backward thinkig people but I beleive they will all be gone soon.

If you like to get cut off, or have someone ride on your back bumper, or sit behind someone driving 15 MPH slower then the posted speed limit in the left lane, and sit in traffic for long periods of time then Maryland is just the place for you!!, Also as a bonus we here have some of the highest cost of housing in the country you'll be paying on average close to $300,000.00 for a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom town house, or $600,000.00 for a new 4 bed, 3 bath house with NO yard, but you can smell your neighbors farts when they let them as the special added bonus because the houses are so close together!! And here's the real catcher you'll be making about the countries average income just $44,000.00 per year, SO COME ON TO MARYLAND and become some of the most self centered, uncurtious people on the planet.
You'll be better off living in the Mid-West where you could count on you neighbor when the chips are down, and not robbed by Read More

Life here bites - 7/27/2006
It's hot and sticky and the traffic doesn't move....Everywhere you go it's a crowd of people. I don't think anyone in Waldorf cooks at home anymore. If you go to dinner there's a line, if you go to a movie you might not get a ticket to see it. Crime is everywhere burglaries, robberies, homicides, most is drug related. People are rude to each other and they are really rude in traffic. It wouldn't be so hard to get around if everyone would obey the traffic regulations. People!!! don't enter an intersection if there is NO room for your car on the other side! What makes you think you're so special that you can block the intersection and keep others from going where they need to go??? What makes you so special that you feel it's ok to park in a fire lane in front of a store so your passenger can go inside while you wait???

What a bunch of self centered egotistical non-caring butt heads there are in this town. I'm looking for a nicer place to Read More
