Good alternative to Somerville - 8/29/2017
We just moved here last year because we could not afford Somerville. We wanted space (reluctantly moving from NYC we at least wanted space) and would have only been able to buy a condo in Somerville. Everett is no longer cheap either but definitely more affordable than its neighbors Somerville, Medford, and Malden. We own a cute house in West Everett. Everett is more diverse than Somerville, has great access to Boston (via the T!) and even offers a small brewing and distilling scene. Plus, you can bike to the ocean on a trail that takes you through marshes. Lastly, there's a playground on just about every corner. What's missing? A decent independent coffee shop. Oh, and fewer chain-link fences would be nice. Read More

One of teh big advantages to living in Everett is that you are absolutely close to everything. You can get to Logan airport driving or in a cab in about 15 minutes any time of the day while avoiding the tunnels. You are 3-5 miles from downtown Boston. You have quick access to Routes 1 and 93.
