Great place to live! - 10/8/2014
Brighton is a great place to live. On the plus side, Brighton (Livingston County) is beautiful with lots of lakes, trees, parks, hiking and biking trails, etc. GREAT schools. It's a fairly low cost of living housing-wise. You're about 50 min. from Detroit so you have access to the culture & activities that a big city has to offer (shows, musicals, sporting events, great restaurants, casinos, etc.) But Brighton itself is a charming small downtown with the conveniences of the large retailers about 2 min. away from the charming downtown. The only downside is: harsh, long winters and Brighton isn't that transient and so most people that live here are from here and have lots of family and friends here already. (Seems slightly less easy to meet people vs. when we lived in Chicago.) Also, there are not many ethnic or outstanding restaurants if you're a foodie. But Ann Arbor is about a 20 min. drive and offers a ton more options.  Read More

Mostly wonderful place to live - 4/30/2014
I have lived here for some time and raising kids here is really nice. It's like a small ann arbor, downtown buzzes with festivals, shops, music, parks and restaurants. Great layout, you can park, eat, have desert a romantic stroll along the winding bridge, all types and diversity in foods...safe too. Unlike Ann Arbor the area lacks any real diversity, which is disappointing. I mean, life is pretty limited surrounded only by people who look just like you...but for the betters than Ann Arbor Schools, lower than average traffic and low property taxes, the trade off is fair...homes are more affordable too and the commute is easy to University of Michigan and to Ann Arbor...the location is idea for me, since I go back in forth to the city (towards Novi) and the country (Traverse City, etc...) and this location makes both commutes pretty painless...

Lots of activities for kids in nearby towns like Howell, Hartland, Milford...

Fantastic Living in Brighton, MI close to Ann Arbo - 3/4/2014
Of all the places we have lived in the U.S. this is the best.
We have finally found a neighborhood with friendly people of all ages, Great medical care within 10-30 minutes of our home (satellite office for the University of Michigan Medical Center), less taxes than Ann Arbor yet close to Ann Arbor for nightlife, shopping, culture, etc. Great restaurants, grocery stores, yoga, coffee shops pharmacies, etc all within walking distance of downtown. Low crime, great schools, movie theaters, and a responsive police & fire department. What more could a
person want? Michigan has the most beautiful spring, summer and falls in the world...we will hang on during the winter because we love it. Read More
