Grosse Pointe Park - A Mini Resort Town - 6/18/2009
Grosse Pointe Park is an upscale suburb of Detroit just 10 minutes from downtown.

The people are very friendly and watch out for each other, yet are not intrusive. We have a top rated Public Safety Department, as well.

The city is only about 4 sq miles, but has many amenities. There are two main parks directly on Lake St. Clair that provide for just about any sport. One park is considered a "quiet" park having a play scape, boardwalk, sledding hill, fountain and splash pad. It also has accommodations for kayaks and sail boarding. The second larger park has a full scale marina, tennis courts, large swimming pool, fishing pier, volley ball pit, community center, movie theater, gymnasium and work out facilities. As you can tell, the residents enjoy sports. Sailing and swimming are big in the summer, as is watching the large ships pass by, and lacrosse and hockey other times.

The homes are of classic design and were mostly built from 1900 - Read More

GROSSE POINTE CITY NOT PARK - 12/5/2006
I live in Grosse Pointe City which often get's lumped in as Grosse Pointe Park. Kind of a difference but not a big one. GP Park has a lot of rentals and borders more on Detroit but it also does have some large nice expensive houses. Anyway Grosse Pointe City, Park, Woods, Farms and Shores are all considered "The Pointes". It's a very asthetic place to live. The neighborhoods are very nice and the schools are great. There are lots of large trees and in the summer it's a great place to walk around. A lot of resident's take care of their houses which are all different tudor style houses. It's a family oriented area. Also GP borders Lake St. Clair and if you're a boater that's really nice in the summer. But there are no beaches for swimming.

Now the bad part:

Grosse pointe borders Detroit which IMHO is the GHETTO NUCLEUS. They say Detroit's suburbs are the most segregated in America. And seeing how nice Grosse Pointe is knowing how close Detroit is is kind of Read More

Grosse Pointe Park is a walking city. It is only about one mile by one mile big. Everything you need (groceries, movies, flowers, clothes, shoes, doctor, school) are all within walking distance. Police are everywhere and it is very safe, despite being so close to the city of Detroit. The city is the only one of the Grosse Pointes to have two city parks. Both are right on Lake St. Clair and offer swimming pools, tennis courts, basketball, playgrounds, picnic areas and exercise Read More
