Armpit of the state - 3/13/2021
Lived here previously, have friends that still do. i don't know why anyone stays. It is the armpit of the state. Smaller town, so everyone knows everyone and is in your business. High crime, drug use, losers who won't work... On top of that, its boring. Its like a N Minneapolis, minus things to do. Read More

Lots of Crime - 2/26/2017

St. Cloud is the best place to live for "normal" p - 2/29/2016
St. Cloud is the best place to live if you are not somebody with a developmental disability. Other than that I would highly suggest you live somewhere else. The St. Cloud area is a very conservative area. That being said it is extremely hard for people with developmental disabilities to find work or even to get into college. I should know I've grown up in the St. Cloud area and I am somebody with a developmental disability. I have had a lot of very hard times finding work here in the area because of people in this community perceptively discriminating against saying very disrespectful and inappropriate things about me. So, if your somebody with a developmental disability take my advice and don't live in the St. Cloud area. Go somewhere else.Read More

not so great - 6/2/2014
I have lived in st.cloud for 15 years and since then it has changed a lot. Growing up as a kid there was not much to do but get into trouble. There is not much of anything for teenagers growing up. Now that I have a family it is difficult because there are not many things to do with my 5 year old even. We are moving to california. The weather here has become terrible, last winter it would get to -30 for a week. That means stuck in doors all winter long if you do not do winter activities. The raciscm is insane and not a good place to raise a child. Read More

Culturally Devoid, Racially Intolerant - 9/18/2010
I have lived in St. Cloud for over 20 years. The population has more than double in that time, and the area population has easily tripled, in that time. The advancement of the city has remained stagnant.

Cuisine options include "American," Italian, Chinese, and Mexican, and NOTHING else. The closest thing to a "good" restaurant is the Olive Garden or Red Lobster, which is sad considering the metro population exceeds 150,000.
On top of the complete lack of culture is the openly racist and homophobic dialog, that has apparently become acceptable amongst this cities inhabitants.
I am a straight, white, middle-class, male; and I am disgusted by the xenophobic attitude that has become the status quo in this city.

If you are racist, hate "Somalians"(which on a side note, a person from Somalia is called Somali, not Somalian), "towel heads," and "fags," you will absolutely LOVE St. Cloud, MN.  Read More

Not easy for outsiders - 11/4/2008
This is a close knitt community:50% Catholic,preponderently German(German - 40%,Norwegian - 11%,Irish - 8%,Swedish - 6%,Polish - 6%,English - 4%,French-3%,Black or African American - 2%),surrounded by a sea of mostly Nowegian/Swedish Lutherans, that is made of close networks of large families(search Google for Stearns County Syndrome).
It is easier if you are the same, more so if you are educated and having a good paying job. While some local minority liberals-there are some-will make a case for racism,I think they are for the most part wrong. This area's majority has been in minority in comparison with the rest of MN since it's beginings, and has lacked racial/ethnic/religious diversity until very recently-people just need time to get used.
2 neighbours and 1 close friend(originally from Twin Cities,Columbus, and Yerevan) have decided that they don't have the time though,so one is back now in Plymouth, another went to Austin,TX and one is moving to San Read More

Lots To Do - 6/5/2007
St. Cloud has much to do. It has a strong local arts community, both regional theater and Arts performances at the local colleges. The local Universities also provide some great college sporting events to attend. There is golfing (Frisbee to) and tennis, not to mention biking and of course many winter activities including cross country skiing and Ice Read More
