It's a great fit for some - 1/19/2022
I grew up here and came back for 10 years as an adult. There are jobs to be had with decent wages, but few large employers. This works out fine if you like what you're doing enough to stay there for a few decades, but if that's not the case, you could run out of good options after just a few moves. Thief River is a nice town, relatively untouched by the economic downturn plaguing the rest of the country. Grand Forks is about an hour drive, Fargo is two hours. So, major shopping, arts, and excitement is not far away. Outdoor activities abound, like snowmobiling, ice fishing, hunting, etc. There are plenty of sports and extra curriculars for kids. People really care in Thief River. Your neighbors and co-workers quickly become close friends, and take care of you like family. There is the usual amount of gossip and small-town chatter, but that's Read More
