Moved from San Diego to Winona, and love it here! - 11/21/2019
I was born in San Diego in 1951 and grew up there. I loved the weather and the scenic beauty. Got a great education. In 1984 I got the crazy idea to move my family to North Carolina; it turned out we loved it there. We went from a 1/10 acre corner lot to a 1/3 acre lot, with 80-foot trees and a forest in the backyard. After that, I had to move to take various jobs in Florida, Virginia, Minnesota, and Arizona, but I was finally able to retire in Winona, Minnesota, a really nice small college town on the Mississippi River with great scenery and a four-season climate. I love nature, and have found it's really nice to live in parts of the US where trees grow naturally without having to be watered, and the look of the landscape Read More

Quickly changing from what is was, to something yo - 6/5/2010
Winona was once a peaceful and safe town. Don't get me wrong, it's no Rochester or Chicago when it comes to crime. BUT, there are many moving to this area from Chicago, and crime rates are going up. 9 months out of the year the town is CRAZY busy with college students which also brings alot of under-aged drinking and negatives that come with it.

In the summer the town quiets down a bit.

Winona is a GORGEOUS place to live with a lot to offer in stores. However most head to Rochester or Lacrosse for clothes shopping.

It has a Target, Walmart, Kmart, Shopko, JC Penny's, Maurices, and Read More
