Why I love living here! - 9/2/2010
I have lived in many areas of the country - Portland, Oregon, Scottsdale, Arizona, Memphis, Tennessee, Las Vegas, Nevada. Although Mississippi does not have exposure to many of the things that these cities or other cities have, it does have a lot of charm, culture, and is geographically situated dead center to nearby cities within easy driving range, i.e. New Orleans, Memphis, Atlanta, Birmingham, Dallas, Little Rock, etc. Brandon is a small town, historically known for its "Miss America - Mary Ann Mobley" - but it's got a quaint historical downtown, and spreads to the more rural areas with Million Dollar + homes located on the Ross Barnett Reservoir. It has a small town atmosphere and charm, and friendly people. I can sleep with my doors unlocked and never have a worry. And the cost of living is unreal -- low!!! It's a great place to live in every way!  Read More

Rude People, Huge Population Explosion, Congested - 2/5/2010
We moved to Brandon 6 years ago. The people here are rude, will run you off the road, and will not let you into traffic no matter what. The High School allows the kids to drive off campus during lunch. My daughter had a teacher that would allow students to call and receive calls on their cellphones during classtime. One teacher surfed the web almost everyday instead of teaching. There are few businesses being built here, but thousands of new homes instead. What does that mean? Very crowded schools, roads and traffic at times can be a nightmare. The city took away our recycle program because it wasn't providing a profit for the city. Since when is recycling about profit? Most people here come across as being better than everyone else, which is very far from the truth. A town of glorified Read More

poor customer service and rude people - 11/13/2007
I moved here 10 years ago and it was the worse mistake in my life. People here are rude and hate outsiders. Common sense is not the norm here but the exception. They all drive like nascar drivers and try to run you off the road while they're enroute to church. they think they can do anything to anyone as long as it's in the name of god. there is nothing to do here but fish and hunt. The big outing here is to go to sonic drivein or the movies. At every turn someone is trying to rip you off and the car tags are ridiculous. tornadoes are a problem also in the spring. IN short, the people here don't care about much about anything but getting a free ride on tax payers backs and trying to keep people out of their towns who might bring change to the area. this place is the opitime of what others call "poor white Read More

I moved here from Sarasota, FL - tired of hurricane warnings and high cost living.........people here are so friendly and the cost of living is less - close to shopping, churches, etc. Only three hours to the gulf coast - I think I will like it Read More
