City Planning - 4/27/2014
Forget everything you've heard about Mississippi. In 30 years, Madison and Ridgeland, sister cities, have grown from being whistle stop railroad communities into two of the nicest places you could find to raise a family. Carefully planned, Madison offers excellent public and private education opportunities, beautiful housing and commercial developments, and ample recreational opportunities. Situated on the Natchez Trace Parkway, Ridgeland is known for water activities at the Ross Barnett Resevoir and a network of bike trails that take advantage of the natural beauty of both the Trace and the "Rez". Median family incomes in the Madison area much higher than any other area of the state. Expect a very high quality of life in town that you can be very proud to call Read More

The Madison County area just north of Jackson is a growning community with excellent school systems both public and private. HA!!HA!! - 9/3/2013
When you ever read good things about Madison, you can bet your money the Queen Mayor Mary, the dictator, has paid them whether it be by comment or word no one is sure, but these people around here and the snootiest people I have ever seen in my entire life and for the most part you just aren't good enough to live here....No One is or could be everyone thinks they are too good to live here.

The schools are trying to get rid of all the kids that do not make good grades for the fact they used to be way at the top of the list, but with the inadequate teaching staff they have fallen to below average.

This is most definitely not a place to raise children due to the police here...There are several law suits with the police station for there on going abuse and harassment of teenagers.

But on a good note, we have finally sold our house in Madison. There have never been this many houses up for sale in this city, not even through the mortgage crisis, but Read More

No place for illiterate trash - 5/6/2013
I know this may come as absolutely SHOCKING news, but Madison is not for everybody.

For as long as I can remember, I've worked like crazy to master skills, make good grades, and be the most I could be. I've saved and invested since before I was old enough to drive. And I worked hard, exercising and dieting, to look good enough to marry someone worth having. It worked, and I caught a big, gorgeous guy from a good family, whose goals and accomplishments mirrored mine.

What I wrote about myself could describe my parents, my grandparents, and most people we know in Madison. It took generations of application, thrift, and prudence, to get me to where I am today. That could be said of most people in Madison. It is a town of and FOR high-achievers. Most of us work three thousand hour years, and worked very hard to attain advanced degrees and coveted certifications. It is a city of busy people who work long hours, then work hard at rearing our children, Read More

Best place to live...... What a joke! - 4/17/2013
I moved here with my family 11 years ago from Nashville TN. I wish I could say it got easier living here after time but Unfortuantly it hasn't. As a teenager living here school was hell for me. I had a bunch of football players pull my dress up in front of practically the whole school during first bell. Not once but twice. The second time my books fell all over the floor and I fell against the wall crying. I called my parents who came in personally to talk to Coach Cofield who is the assistant principle at Madison Middle. He felt that just because one of them said they were sorry nothing should be done to them. After my parents fought for some sort of justice they decided to paddle only one of the players twice. This football player went around bragging about only getting two licks for what he had done to me. My parents then tried contacting the supervisor over the school board who would not return any call. The school system is a joke. This is only one incident that Read More

Too snooty for my liking! Not a friendly place - 12/12/2012
Having located from the Northeast, I can most certainly agree with this person's assessment of Madison, MS. We have found it very hard to integrate into the southern culture. Moved into a new sub-division and not one person stopped by to welcome us. People are very snooty and if you don't go wild for College football, you just don't fit in. It amazes me that so many young people around here drive huge expensive vehicles and live in big homes on one income. You can find all the wives at the gym once the kids are dropped off at school. We thought that that the southern hospitality thing that everyone talks about, would be a welcome thing. As far as I'm concerned, the people from the Northeast are much nicer and not as phoney. This has been our assessment thus far having relocated in 05/12. It's time for us to Read More
