I am a Petal native 4th generation with a child (5th generation) in the Petal School District. I love it here, but I must say that a lot of the information provided on this website about this city is just flat out wrong. For starters, local restaurants in petal do not include the Purple Parrot. That place was in Hattiesburg until it shut down in recent years. If you'd like a recommendation on local eateries here I recommend going to Mom & Dads Country Buffet, Sully's on the Evelyn Gandy Parkway, El Mariachi Loco on Central avenue, to name a few. The parks in Petal are wonderful, but the ones listed here are not actually located in the city of Petal. Here are some that are, though: Willie Hinton Park located on Main Street offers a huge walking trail, biking trail, pavilion, soccer fields, playground and it is in close proximity to the library and police department so great for safety reasons.
