California transplant in Missouri - 8/23/2009
I moved from Long Beach, CA to Blue Springs, MO 2 1/2 years ago. I had lived in Long Beach for 10 years, and northern California the prior 18 years - I've never lived in any other state. Blue Springs is cheaper, cleaner, and seems to have less economic disparity. While southern California is great for college, this is definitely a better place to Read More

Blue Springs, Heaven on Earth for Families - 6/28/2008
Blue Springs is a FABULOUS place to raise a family. Public Schools are unsurpassed and community involvement is great. The city itself is a "bedroom" community with a lack of community leadership pulling industry/business into the area with the exception being the chain stores with $10/hr jobs. If you can support your family on that with both parents working at it and still afford daycare then you're set. Unfortunately my career grew to the point for that exact reason I was forced to move from the area after 42 years for gainful employment in a Senior/Executive Management role. From an overall perspective the City has everything and a great mix of things to do. General Services are easy to find and affordable. Comparing it to the Southeast (North Carolina) area and the cities there, Blue Springs is much more Cosmopolitan. A great choice for relocation if the opportunity exist for Read More

It All Depends On What Is The Most Important To Yo - 6/13/2007
Blue Springs is a great place to raise a family. The schools are full of devoted, enthusiastic teachers and families that are involved in school and sporting activities. The excellent schools are a big draw for many families. With no scientific data to back this up, there seems to be a larger than common amount of families that have at least one parent home during the day.

The city is clean and making slow attempts at keeping up with neighboring communities but has really has to step up in development. The main strip of 7 Highway is in danger of becoming a repeating pattern of used car lots, fast food restaurants and fake nail salons. If you want to eat dinner off a plate with silverware instead of unwrapping it, your choices are limited. That said you are no more than a ten-minute drive to lots of convenient shopping and dining.

Houses are reasonably priced and have good-sized yards. Most areas have seen decent appreciation on a regular basis.  Read More
