I moved here a little over a year ago with the hope that I would find a quieter community to live in than suburban Kansas City. I was wrong.

Crime is running rampant here. The Meth drug trade is destroying the town and is leading to a rise in criminal activity. And the lack of jobs for the younger people also contributes to this problem.

The people are not particularly friendly though I will say I've had less trouble with the people of Richmond than in the Kansas City area. At least they generally are not hostile like a lot of the people in Kansas City.

If you are thinking about moving to Richmond I would suggest you look elsewhere unless you have family ties to the area. I will be selling my house in 2012 and will start my small business Read More

Stay far away! The town has dried up since WalMart moved in. There is no downtown any more. The mayor is an idiot. The city council isn't much better. The police are corrupt, so much so that some of the better ones have quit lately. The people are not friendly. They have a "Mushroom Festival" every May which has dwindled to nothing. The good points are the Farris Theater and they do have nice streets downtown around the square, where no one has a reason to go.
