Gibbon blared sirens 4 times a day and with EMS - 1/30/2024
Gibbon runs civil defense sirens at 7am, 12pm, 1pm, and 6pm, and any time the EMS sevice is dispatched. 3am, 2am, midnight, 4am doesn't matter. If you're retired or sick or the kids need to nap or you have a night job etc or you need to sleep in for whatever reason, you won't be able to. They are LOUD, around 120db so you're hearing and your kid's hearing is at risk of being damaged. My pets puke when they go off. Nebraska doesn't have nuisance disclosure laws when buying real estate so if you're looking at a house and you don't look when those sirens are going off, you'll be none the wiser until it's too late and you've closed on your home, bc nebraska doesn't matter date that these nuisances are disclosed unlike other states.

Also, the beef packing plant odor is really bad. Really bad Read More

Gibbon NE future home buyers beware - 1/20/2024
Warning! I live in Gibbon and it is NOT a peaceful rural town. Every day they run the tornado civil defense sirens at 7am, 12pm, 1pm, and 6pm. They also go off when the EMS system is called. Last night, the sirens blared at 3:20am then again at 3:30am. There were over 200 EMS calls and 50 fire calls in 2023, so you ARE going to get woke up. So if you want to sleep past 7am good luck . If you're sick, you WILL NOT get your rest. Babies and kids that need naps WILL get woke up. If you work from home and have a conference call, the other people CAN hear those sirens. It's disruptive and makes your home business look cheap and unprofessional when you have to stop a meeting to wait for the siren to go off.

There's THREE sirens in a town barely a mile wide so there's no escaping them. They are insanely loud.

They are not "testing" the sirens. They run them bc "it's our history." However, most sirens such as these have a dark history and were put in place in Read More
