Gibbon NE future home buyers beware

Warning! I live in Gibbon and it is NOT a peaceful rural town. Every day they run the tornado civil defense sirens at 7am, 12pm, 1pm, and 6pm. They also go off when the EMS system is called. Last night, the sirens blared at 3:20am then again at 3:30am. There were over 200 EMS calls and 50 fire calls in 2023, so you ARE going to get woke up. So if you want to sleep past 7am good luck . If you're sick, you WILL NOT get your rest. Babies and kids that need naps WILL get woke up. If you work from home and have a conference call, the other people CAN hear those sirens. It's disruptive and makes your home business look cheap and unprofessional when you have to stop a meeting to wait for the siren to go off.
There's THREE sirens in a town barely a mile wide so there's no escaping them. They are insanely loud.
They are not "testing" the sirens. They run them bc "it's our history." However, most sirens such as these have a dark history and were put in place in sundowner towns. Sundowner towns had sirens whose sole purpose was to let the Native Americans and black people know when they were allowed to enter the town (7am, and 1pm) and when they had to leave (noon, and 6pm). Since Nebraska has a large Native American population and history, AND bc there were multiple KKK groups near Gibbon back in the late 1800's and early 1900's, these sirens most likely have a very dark History. Nonetheless, whether that be true or not, and it's highly likely that it is, Gibbon sirens are highly highly disruptive. And they go off at 7am, noon, 1pm, and 6pm. And all hours of the night.
If you are looking to buy a home and you don't come when the sirens are going off, you'll be none the wiser, bc Nebraska, unlike other states, does NOT require "nuisance disclosures" when buying a house. Also, the smell of the town is rancid from the beef packing plant that's located right in town. So buyers beware bc NE does not have to disclose nuisances in property disclosure when selling property.
