Opportunity Kearney!! - 11/17/2011
Kearney is a wonderful community. It has grown exponentially in the last 15 years and continues to make smart decisions in its development. Check out the YouTube video Why We Chose Kearney for a start or any of the community websites. There is a vast medical network, awesome Park and Rec programs, a downtown planning effort, plays, concerts, hockey, football, basketball, many more sports, FARMERS MARKET, Housing is stable and continues to appreciate so you always come out ahead, unemployment rate below 3%, rail, interstate, central U.S. location, low crime, air service, great people, and a clean community. Honestly, I could not ask for anything more. There is so much more than what I've listed so if you are looking for a quality community where you can make it happen, try Read More

The economy is booming - 1/26/2007
Unemployment is pretty much not existent. I am in the IT industry. If you have skills you can get a job today. If you have IT skills and you are interested in Kearney you can email me. I will establish a rule to allow email with "Kearney IT Jobs" in the subject box so be sure to include that if you email me. Otherwise your email will probably not get past the spam filter.

I am not a headhunter. I work with local businesses a lot though so I am usually aware of quite a few openings. I would not mind it if you bought me a beer though if I help you find a job.

The Best of the Good Life - 12/29/2006
I, too, am a lifelong resident of Kearney. But, unlike Carol (the poster who denounced Kearney), I recognize our hometown's high quality of life (as she will once she leaves). Sure, it's expensive, but it's true what they say, "You get what you pay for."
Kearney is a great city with a thriving and progressive economy (e.g., the Buckle, a multi-million dollar apparel company), a rich tradition of culture and fine arts (e.g., Museum of Nebraska Art, Merryman Performing Arts Center, Kearney Community Theatre, Trails and Rails Museum, the Great Platte River Road Archway Monument, and the University of Nebraska at Kearney, etc.), nationally and regionally renoun meedical clinics and hospitals (e.g., New West Sports Clinic and Good Samaritan Health Systems), quality schools (several elementary schools, three middle schools, two high schools, a community college, and a University), a unique variety of entertainment and eatery offerings surprising for a city of its size (e.g., First Read More

Do you like trains? - 12/13/2006
If you do, then Kearney is the place for you. I've stayed overnight twice and was amazed at the number of trains roaring through the center of town. Based on the buildings I saw, it appears that the economy has seen better days. I saw too many storefronts boarded up and closed. Somewhat friendly people. Midwest in character throughout. The only thing that stood out for me were the constant trains passing through Read More

Don't live here if you want to break even or get a - 12/12/2006
I am a native of this town and cannot wait to get out! Housing is some of the highest in the state, taxes are 8th highest in the nation (last report I read), and professional job opportunities are few and far between. College town, as reflected by wages and high rent/cost of home ownership. Some cultural activites, but mostly sports and country music venue. Little interest in craftsmanship and quality of Read More
