Good Value - 3/21/2007
Cost of living is very affordable in Lincoln. It blows me away to see what other areas of the country pay for housing!! Food average to slightly below average, Electricity is CHEAP (thank you LES) compared to the rest of the country, gasoline about average. You can live well here on an average Read More

DRY!!! - 3/21/2007
I have lived here all my life, and have yet to figure out how a place can be extremely humid during the summer months, and yet we seem to have drought more than half the time. Winter is generally dry and cold, and it seems to me we do not recieve as much snow as we did 20 to 25 years ago. Extreme cold is somewhat common but does not usally last long. Weather is always changing rapidly here, not very stable. Can occasionally get very hot in summer. I love Lincoln, but not for the Read More

Taxes! - 1/4/2007
Property and income taxes way too high. Don't seem to see the results of the money I send to government. Looking elsewhere to live.

Nice bigger town, with lots to offer. - 6/8/2006
We lived here for about three years, and we did really like it. The people are pretty friendly. What I loved was there is a lot to do with children. The downtown museum for children is wonderful. The libraries are very good, we have lived in a lot of places and some bigger cities did not have the kind of libraries or the quality that these have, the best one being downtown. There were several play buildings at parks that contained a huge indoor play gym (like the ones at Mickey Ds) It is nice when it is raining outside, and only cost several dollars to get in.

The city does a lot for it own as well. When I could not get a job, the city put me a program and paid for college. What a great deal!

The house prices are pretty good, there is a lot of split level design in this area. This and ranches. It is easy to get around downtown. The downtown has several good restaurants, and on weekends they have a farmers market that is just out of this world.

I have lived in Lincoln for ten years and have enjoyed it. The city is very clean and well kept. The people are friendly and it is very safe. The fall and spring are beautiful, winters are not too cold but the summers are hot and humid. This is a nice University town with a few other smaller colleges in the mix here as well (Union, Wesleyan and Southeast). There are a lot of good restaurants and nice parks. There is not a lot to do here if you are into the outdoors as once you leave the city limits it is basically just grassland. Unless you want to drive an hour to Omaha for some big city amenities. This is a good place to raise a family and just kick back and barbaque with the Read More

Great place to live for kids, teenagers, college s - 5/2/2006
Great value in real estate, though property taxes high. Lots of great neighborhoods, good variety of new, older neighborhoods, including nice duplex villages for retirees. rolling terrain, lots of walkout basement homes. Forget about wooded lots, don't exist. Univdsity of Nebraska excellent value, following Huskers in football, baseball, basketball, and W volleyball is fun if you like sports. Restaurants suck, only chains and sports bars, drive to Omaha for good sportsbars and entertainment, other than Lied Center shows, movies,Roccoco Theatre, and University plays.
If you are not from Lincoln or Nebraska, be prepared for the cold shoulder. People are polite, but thats about it. Dont like outside Read More
