Great place to live...with a few flaws - 8/14/2015
Grew up here and love the area. People are friendly and lots to do in what used to be a sleepy little village. Still, Canal Days, Saturday morning Farmer's Market, HS football, walks along the canal.
It's a little pricey with realty and cost of living.
NYS taxes suck. Unless you love shoveling and skiing, snowmobiling, etc it might not be for you. Great fall

Cost of Living for Fairport - 2/27/2013
I have lived in the Fairport area for nearly two years now and I can say that the cost of living varies greatly. I have little experience with real estate, but have rented for some time now. Safe town with something always happening. - 10/12/2011
In Fairport there is always something planned - lots of parades (sometimes I think they come up with any old reason for a parade), concerts in the park, Canal Days - festival type thing. You can leave your doors unlocked at night in your driveway - although most don't. Most of the town is high income, which makes living here very, verrrrrrrrrrrry hard on those of us without a very big income. I moved here for the good school and thank God my daughter is moving this year. I am totally tapped out. I don't even have money for retirement. (She better support me!) Great place to live, great Rec center, expensive as
