Pure Heaven! - 2/22/2011
My company moved me and my family up to NH from Tampa, FL for a promotion within the company. Before you think I'm crazy, there is a lot about FL that isn't obvious from the outside. For example, property taxes are high and then you have to pay an incredible Hurricane/Home Owners insurance premium on top of it. Because of a large transient population, infrastructure issues are a constant problem (traffic, over crowding of schools, housing, etc.). It is a beautiful place to live, but there is a dark side too. So, we moved to NH and found a new house in Greenland, NH. It is "pure heaven." The people are friendly and with a population of only 4k, you actually have a say in what is done. There are no state taxes or sales tax. So, property is high, but it's the only tax you pay. Home owners insurance is rediculously low. Yes, the winters are cold and there is quite a bit of snow.
