Not bad, but not great either - 7/18/2018
I'm not originally from NJ, and chose Bloomfield after getting a job in Montclair but didn't want to pay Montclair prices for rent. Bloomfield is a cheaper alternative, and has everything that my wife and I need as far as services go. Public transit is an option for me using either buses or trains to Montclair, and they're convenient enough if you live near a bus stop or train station. And getting into NYC is easy via NJ Transit or a quick drive to a PATH station (we use Harrison). Bloomfield, to me, is like an even mix of the upper class vibe of Montclair and the low-income vibe of Newark. You kinda get both in Bloomfield. Great town for commuters - 9/20/2008
Bloomfield is a quiet town that is particularly good for commuters. There are two NJ Transit Train Stations for passengers commuting into Newark and New York Penn Station. DeCamp Bus Company has express bus lines running through Bloomfield for passengers going to Port Authority Bus Terminal. And the north end of town is close to State Highway 3, which leads into the Lincoln Tunnel for drivers heading to midtown Manhattan.
