10 Years of Living in Edison, Just Don't do It - 4/13/2021
I don't recommend living here if you are planning to move here with a family- even a small one. The school system is terrible- teachers are racist and have favorites, bullying is ignored, the schools are VERY overcrowded, and the neighbors aren't nice and don't even try to interact. If you are planning to settle down in the area, Metuchen or Highland Park is a better place. There is no diversity in North Edison, 98% of people from North Edison are Asian. Mental health issues are very prevalent as well, and the schools aren't good. Teachers don't teach at all, and no one makes an effort to help any of the children through their mental health issues, whether that be guidance counselors, teachers, friends, or neighbors. The public schools are terrible and there aren't too many private local ones to choose from. Since you are a responsible person and take time to read reviews, you should make the right decision to NOT EVER LIVE HERE. Read More

Living in north edison - 6/25/2014
North Edison is a somewhat typical suburban town, with a few differences.

The town is unofficially separated by school districts into North Edison and South Edison, with a separate town, Metuchen physically in the center.

North Edison has a better school system, with the top portion of the class attending the ivies, and everyone else going to Rutgers. South Edison, has a slightly lower ranked school system, with the top portion attending Rutgers, and the rest attending cc.

Edison as a whole is a fairly quite town. A number of people commute to NYC via Metropark, or they work in engineering firms in neighboring Woodbridge.

The past decade has seen an influx of asians and indians, as well as the construction of McMansions, and large 5000+ sqft custom homes on every available lot.

There is a "little india" in neighboring iselin.

Changed City - 1/3/2014
I lived in North Edison from 1994 to 2008. A developer by the name of Foxx & Foxx bought up all the small houses when one spouse died. He bullied the surviving spouse until they sold to Foxx even when the deceased spouse said they'd never sell to Foxx but the survivor sold to Foxx and he built huge McMansions(replacing two or three existing homes with one McMansion) . I do not dislike any ethnic group but only Asians with
multi-generational families could afford these McMansions. Just before I left the last "American" store vanished and became an "Asian" store. The shopping centers and commercial streets became "Little Asia"and on weekends many streets became "Street fairs" with only Asian food, clothing and video/DVD items for sale. Anglo-Americans were looked on with disdain. If you enjoy Asian culture, Edison is for you. If you enjoy traditional American culture stay Read More
