The Ironbound of Newark - 10/4/2008
While Newark has it problems, the Ironbound section in which I live is the most stable and developed area of Newark. It is known for its restaurants, it has night spots for the younger crowd and it is a culturally alive area. Near Penn Station, it allows for easy access to NYC. The area is safe at all times and the people are

Move on - 6/23/2007
This city is a death zone. I would not let a dog walk down the street. Drugs are being sold at every corner you name it they have it. Shooting are way out of control think of it as the old wild west.Stolen cars, trucks and motorcycles use the streets as a drag strip. Police hands are tied up,cant keep up with all of the crime, also understaffed and out of date equipment. The city talking about more lay-offs and higher taxes. Dont visit this city at nights, (days are dangerous enough). Please make sure your insurance is current(LIFE, MEDICAL, DENTAL ETC,). There is nothing positive about this city. Newark should be banished from the rest of world.( Just like the movie escape from NEW YORK).Please stay out and beware. If you reside in NEWARK, PLEASE GET OUT BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY BEFORE ITS TOO LATE. Before your sanity or life are taken

Rent: Going Up, Up, Up - 5/7/2007
I no longer live in Newark, but I grew up there. I also work p/t in the city. I am noticiing that rents are starting to be well above $1000 for a 1 or 2 bedroom apt. This is due to the many new townhomes that are being built. It is an excellent time to buy investment properties, but a not so good time for

If You Value Your LIFE and LOVED ONES Dont Move He - 11/9/2006
If You Value Your LIFE and LOVED ONES Dont Move Here. Newark is the worst place I've been besides Atlanta, and Compton. My car was stolen withina week of living here. I was robbed in the next 6 months while attending Essex County College, and I witnessed at least 4 fights, and 1 drive by shooting, not to mention that the city is full of gangs and drugs. This is no place to be. Newark would be a wonderful place to live if the people where

I Rep Newark to the Fullest!!!!! - 7/19/2006
I moved to newark from east orange a couple years ago, and although Newark is notorious for the crime, I still think Newark is a great place to live. I love the different sections in newark, like the ironbound/downtown section. I live in the weequahic section and I think it's great. The best way to enjoy living in Newark is to obviously be safe, be mindful of your surroundings and mind your business; but these three rules can apply to anywhere. I also believe that Newark would become like the renaissance of Harlem. It is a popular city, with great potential to being a hot attraction to people around the world, but it is in need of change and change can start by finding the good things to say about Newark or contributing towards the continuing housing development and recreation centers. So all of you people that keep complaining about Newark's crime rate, GET OVER IT AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! Let's focus on what Newark can be and make it a better place to
