Warm and Friendly Place - 1/25/2022
Possibly a 5 Star Place to live. No concerns about crime in Leland. The only reason I would not give 5 stars would be: town is still developing--so not everything is here just yet. However, they have a great foundation of commercial and residential areas.

Climate is incredible! Mild Winter--sure it gets cold but not frigid cold like up North. Close to both Brunswick County Beaches and Wilmington. So yes summers are humid (your on the east coast what do you expect?) however, on the islands (beaches) you get a gentle island breeze.

Hurricanes are a fact of life here. However, they have their season. Pray and evacuate is my Read More

Mostly Unpleasant - 2/18/2014
Having grown older, I find myself increasingly intolerant of cold weather, but the type of winter weather here mimics that of my home state, Texas, and I hated it growing up and I hate it now. There is no weather more bone chilling than a 40 degree rainy day with a 10 to 15 mile per hour wind. As for summers, it is hot and humid from mid-May until near the end of September. A typical summer morning at sunrise finds the mercury at 75 degrees and the humidity at 98%. If climate is important to you, I cannot recommend this Read More

New to Leland - 2/12/2008
We've been in Leland for almost 2 months now. We really like it here. We transplanted from Brevard County Florida, and we used to commute for everything at least 30 minutes! Leland is pretty nice. We are in a pretty nice area, and the hustle of Wilmington is just across the river. It is so nice to have everything so close by, within a 15 min drive. It's been 10 years of commuting, and now I feel that I never want to go back to that!
Traffic is a little iffy, at the usual am/pm rush hours. One thing we have noticed, is that smoking is still allowed here in restaurants. There has been a no-smoking ban in Florida for a few years, and for those of us who don't smoke, it was nice.
The High School here seems to be great. Daughter in 12th grade. People here are VERY friendly! Down in FL, it was far and few between to find someone who would smile, or wave to you as you drove by. Manners are a lost breed down there, but it's nice to see that it still exists here!
