A small piece of a bigger puzzle
- 8/26/2017
It is hard to discuss Canton without putting it into the larger context of Northeast Ohio(Cleveland/Akron/Canton)
Canton itself has added a nice Arts district, miles of trails via Stark Parks, Vineyard, libraries, and of course the nearly 1 Billion in investments that are starting to come in for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Village. There are many quality colleges and a couple of good hospital systems, Akron/Canton airport is very easy to get in and out of and has some great discount flights. Cleveland Hopkins an hour away. Because of the NFL/Hall of Fame, I have met/been entertained by many celebrities who would bypass a small city market....but they come here.
The economy has struggled, but is coming back as one of the largest oil/natural gas shelfs in America was recently discovered south of here and as the jobs market diversifies/adjusts. There is also a large amount of renovation of historic buildings.
The weather is OK/glorious for 7 months(mid April to mid

Grew up in Ohio, spent the first 25 years of life there and enjoyed. On the East Coast in Boston, MA now. It was a good place for a kid. If you have any ambition at all in life, get out. Ohio with Walmart as the largest employer and the Auto industry in decline, it will continue its downward spiral. Growth is key. Property values will continue to decline. Houses abandon. It is sad but true. If you are happy sitting in your house, blinds pulled, large screen TV on 24/7, no interests, Perfect place! . If you are intellectually curious at all get the hell out!

Canton, Ohio Sucks
- 6/25/2014
Canton, Oh is a rathole yes this place will suck the life out of you, yes there are plenty of prostitutes, drug dealers and users everything is true. Your chance of getting robbed in the city is becoming petty high. This place is a slum even the city will not cut grass let alone renters and home owners. Most work here is minimum wage jobs where you will never get ahead. A lot of people are dirtbags who would rather toss there empty beer/wine bottle in your yard instead of a trash can. There are more welfare moms than you can count who are more happy to just send their 6 kids outside to do what ever they want instead of teaching them right from wrong ( that's what the police are for, if they ever show up). If you are even thinking about moving here because of the low rent or price of houses please read my post and the above post first because the heartache may not be worth it and if you visit and want to meet the residents of this city just come to a local Walmart on the 1st of the

I left canton along time ago because i could not see a future here.i guess that old saying that gose its not what you know its who you know holds true in canton you mite as well leave because thers no where to go if your in the downtown area to where you can sit down and have a meal maby strik up a conversation on what going on in canton.canto dosent tell you that downtown moved out to Beldan village in order to find some people that you could possibly talk to downtown is dead they have plenty of jails there and they have no problem showing you the inside of one ether and after they put that bad t in your mouth your ready to leave.another thing canton is not doing any thing to get the people interested in any thing that has to do with making canton an interesting place to live. one place i think you should look at is the twin city they got it go in on there look it up Minneapolis Mn

A great place to live
- 2/16/2012
Canton is a great place to live. In the city there are plenty of parks, museums (President Mckinley Museum, First Ladies Museum and the Pro Football Hall of Fame), art gallery, D-league basketball, area league football, excellent players guild. Even in the winter there's near by skiing, not to mention plenty of hills for your taboggans. Exellent road system and public transportion makes it easy to get a round and below average cost of living index are additonal plus.

Can't wait to leave.
- 7/27/2010
I moved to Canton to teach and coach football and aside from those two things I can't wait to be out of there next year. The city is boring. There is nothing to do on the weekends (during the off-season)that is at all exciting and most of the city is full of older people. There are no cool neighborhoods that you can go out in and enjoy yourself. I'm from Cleveland and I know Cleveland isn't all that great, but Canton make C-Town look like

say what you will... but Canton OH has been good t
- 3/29/2010
I've been enjoying the site, comparing places I've been with places I might be going. Then I stumbled upon some reviews for Canton Ohio, where I currently am. I was surprised that comments seemed so far removed from my experiences that I thought I'd write and add a dissenting voice.
Canton Oh is a Midwest, blue collar town. I grew up here then moved away. But as we age, and our parents age, sometimes we find ourselves back in our hometowns whether we planned it or now. Thus... I'm back in Canton OH. And you know what... I'm surprised.
I'm an artist and lived in the greater Denver CO area for many years. When I first moved "home", I was very concerned... that as an artist I might starve. But I've been amazingly surprised at Canton Ohio's effort to support the arts.
If you tour downtown Canton OH you'll see amazing public works of art, exciting galleries in the downtown area. And most importantly, you'll sense a spirit of rebirth and camaraderie

You don't want to live here
- 10/17/2009
I was born and raised in Canton. I hate it people are so selfish and rude most of the time. Employers are the worse. They have so may people to choose from due to unemployment have no respect for the employees generally. Housing, Well good luck with that. With most people making min. wage hard to make a living at all
