Columbus is a great city to live in - 2/22/2007
I have read several posts saying how bad Columbus is. I have read a few positive posts though. I think it is funny that some of these people that are posting have never grown up in or truly lived in Columbus for a long length of time. Columbus has a lot of different things to offer. It has great places to shop. Polaris Fashion Place is the best mall I have been to yet. It has a great night life. I went to OSU so believe me when I say that Columbus is a party town. OSU is the largest school in the US. Columbus must be doing something right for their students. It is very diverse. I have read all your comments about there being no diversity. It is funny that you say that. I live in LA now and I find that all races tend to keep to themselves. There is quite a bit of racism between all of the races out here. Black and Hispanic hate crimes are on the rise. We are talking about a city of 3,000,000 people. I don't think diversity is based on how many people of different races

Mandatory posting for free membership - 1/29/2007
Having not spent any time in Columbus prior to moving here, I was quite pleasantly surprised at the amount and variety of activities. This is far from a large college town (which is what I was expecting). While it is far from a big city, it has many of the cultural activities and recreation options that one would expect from a large

If you hate Columbus so much get the hell out.
You proved my point by your response. You are not an open minded, accepting person at all. No I'm not a liberal, so you automatically assume I'm a redneck? My wife is a social worker and a liberal, and I am definitely not a conservative. In your post you mention that I can't handle someone not seeing it the way I do and then you call me an "idiot redneck." You obviously can't handle anyone who disagrees with how YOU see it. I lived in San Francisco for 10 years and grew tired of the excessive cost of living and the LACK of political diversity. Sure, people with the SAME viewpoints all got along great. Besides San Francisco, I've lived in Syracuse,NY, Chicago, NYC, and Hamburg, Germany. Overall I found Columbus to be the least political of all these places. People did not seem to judge you one way or the other. If thats not the way you see it, fine,

NOT a good place to live, unless you like living w - 1/16/2007
If you've lived anywhere else, you'll soon see that Columbus has virtually nothing to offer you. Try getting some Chinese at 2 AM. That just isn't going to happen. Now, if you like fast-food, lard-laced food, then Columbus is what your looking for. This town hmust have the fattest pople per capita out of the nation and this is coming form a guy who is from Detroit. Talk about unhealthy. And the OSU thing that was referenced by another writer, he wasn't kidding. SInce there isn't any real sports in Columbus, 2nd-rate hockey team and who really does give two squirts about soccer, that only leaves OSU left to cheer for. Most obnoxious fans you'll find anywhere and again, the fattest!! So, if you want to live like a tub of lard and have nothing to do, Columbus is your spot to live!! Welcome to Columbus, would you like to biggy size

The parks around Columbus - 12/29/2006
The parks around Columbus are great and some of them will be connected with walking and riding paths in the near future. It's a great place to enjoy the outdoors and the wildlife (birds, deer, etc.) and to get plenty of exercise without fear of vehicle

Columbus is supposedly a "melting pot" that is culturally diverse and interesting. But, for an African American, Columbus is a dead city with everything set up for people not of African descent. There are little to no cultural activities for Black people here, and what little does go on is empty fluff. Jobs here for Black people are hard to get, especially if you don't fit into the conservative ideal of what a Black person is supposed to be like and act like. There are no Black arts, other than the conservative Martin Luther King Center, whose patronage is primarily the "Blacks" that are in good with the "right" people. There are no true Black museums, or anything that is by and for Black people. Overall, Columbus is for those Blacks like Bryan Gumball and Wayne

Columbus is not what they're saying...except if yo - 12/13/2006
Columbus is a seriously conservative town, and the only Black people that have real opportunities here are those that fit into the Bryan Gumball/Wayne Brady mold. There are no real cultural activities for Black people here except for the one or two events during the summer. As far as the arts go, there are no Black museums or Black theaters here. Most of the successful Black people are those that are careful not to do or say anything that might "offend" the wrong people. There is alot of shucking and jiving done by Blacks here and if you're not willing to be like that, then you are considered an

People here are not nice. - 12/9/2006
I moved my family here from Houston Texas last year and I have noticed that the people are basically rude, harsh, and unfriendly. I don't know if it is the cold winters, the lack of recreation venues, or the lack of good food. Columbus, has no pro sports, except for Hockey, and they have cornfields all around area. The average guy has a shaved head a gotee' and some kind of tattoo.
All I hear about is Buckeye football, and how this is such a great place to raise a family. But, when I finish my Master's I am out of here. To somewhere warm and friendly!

i hate this place - 11/10/2006
i've been to san francisco and lived in portland oregon and can say that you're wrong in saying you won't be accepted if you're not liberal. i had MANY friends that were not liberal, but they got along with people. not like the redneck asses that reside in, as i've heard, 'the most liberal city in ohio'.
i have met some cool people and have met several people that view columbus the way i do, and ironically, they're all from some place else than ohio. just accept that some one doesn't see things the way you do. IDIOT
