Hamilton aka. Hamiltucky - 1/17/2020
Hamilton is like an Island, a little lost in time and separated from the surrounding world. There is a reason why people who don't live there call Hamilton Hamiltucky. (No offense Kentucky) The people who do live there think it's great but it's only because they don't know any better. Officials have done a pretty good job of beautifying the the facade of Hamilton but that's all it is. A facade. Drugs and crime are a major problem. Addicts walking around the streets, especially at night. It's an old dingy, dirty white trash town. I try not to even drive through Hamilton if I can help it. Read More

Proud Hamiltonian - 2/20/2014
I've lived in Hamilton most of my life, and I must say that I have enjoyed watching the progress over the last couple of years. The new amphitheater along the river was so much fun last year. I cant wait to watch more concerts. I also hear we are getting a new dog park! Hamilton has so much history and I've always enjoyed the unique architechture, especially downtown and on dayton lane. The Lane Library is also incredible. Read More

Great Place to Live - 2/20/2014
We LOVE living in Hamilton! We have lived in town since 2009 and enjoy all that the city has to offer. Great sculptures all over town. Its no wonder they call it the City of Sculpture! Tons of art from local artists. The Fitton Center always has classes and art shows going on. We also love the bike path that winds down the river. Beautiful! And Riversedge amphitheater is one of the best concert venues I have been too.

City of Sculpture & Arts - 12/27/2013
You need to get up to speed on how far Hamilton has come in the last five years and see where it's headed in the next five. Get your head out of the 80's and into 2014. The arts and the sculptures are adding to the city's vibrancy and more downtown residents are moving in. The arts are not the silver bullet to bring Hamilton back, but they are an important piece of the puzzle, just like the new RiversEdge Amphitheater and park. Several new initiatives will be bringing upgraded infrastructure, new businesses, and yes, more arts downtown. But if you like rural living like in Ross, nothing will bring you back to Hamilton. But at least downtown Ross has a BP station and antique Read More

Hamilton Ohio - 11/5/2010
As others have said, Hamilton is a dying manufacturing town that is turning into a bedroom community. Like most other old manufacturing towns that are county seats, Hamilton has it's share of problems but it also has some things going for it. For example, Hamilton has just rebuilt most of it's old elementary schools and there are plans to build a nice new park/entertainment complex on the banks of the Great Miami River- once this complex is built, it should help to reenergize downtown. We also have alot of history in Hamilton and some very interesting architecture- few people know this, but Hamilton was the second largest manufacturing center in the US during WWII so the town has alot of neat stuff to discover if you are a history geek.

Also Hamilton's cost of living is hard to beat- we have the lowest utility costs in the State (Water, Gas and Electric) and our property taxes are way lower than they are in Hamilton County (Cincinnati). The low utility costs are a result Read More

This city has really been turned into a dump! - 2/27/2009
I was born and grew up in Hamilton in the 1980's. The east side was always considered the worst part to live where the west side of town was considered the nice part of town. It was great growing up I was able to walk to school without anyone trying to kidnap me and you could walk to the store with your friends and not have to worry about anyone offering you drugs or kidnap you (not that I'm saying it couldn't have happened but it didn't and I felt safe). Now that they've torn down a lot of the housing on Front St for what I call the bums of hamilton live and opened section 8 housing on the west side all the bums and trash of hamilton have come over and trashed the west side of town. I used to be proud of where I lived and was happy to tell anyone but now I live in Ross and could not imagine ever moving back. I feel like my kids are safer here and they are definitely getting a better education than Hamilton can offer(I know cause Ross schools were considered number 2 in the nation)so Read More

The Butler Co. Sheriff makes me ashamed to live he - 3/3/2007
Hamilton is an decent place to live... but recently the sheriff, Richard K. Jones has made it into a hostile environment for most hispanic people, legal or illegal. The way he focuses all of his racist views onto the city makes me sad to be apart of this place. As time goes on, it will only get worse. I for one, can't wait to leave. I'm sure all the other racist people in the city can't wait for me to leave as well. I'm not saying every aspect of the city is focused on race (only some of it is).. but it's a great place to live if you're skin is light. You'll be targeted by certain people if it's Read More

Why we call it "Hamiltucky" - 7/26/2005
Many laborers and their families relocated from the hills of Kentucky, West Virginia & Tennesee to work in the many manufacturing plants during WWII and immediately thereafter.

With the loss of so many employers, we have become a 'bedroom community' for Greater Cincinnati. Land values have skyrocketed, farmlands are being replaced by subdivisions, and shopping centers.

Hamilton had an illustrious place in the founding and settling of 'the western frontier' (Indiana) and was a large supplier of industrial goods for the war effort. She is a ghost of her former robust nature, but her 'bones' are still good.

Architecture is mixed and extremely interesting in the downtown area, excluding the large, rusty metal sculpture in front of the new Government Services Building. Unfortunately it does typify our Read More
