Ghetto of Ohio - 4/25/2019
Springfield’s housing is cheap, because a great deal of the homes are dilapidated. There are many blocks which have two or three out of five houses that are boarded up. They are not livable.
The historical part of town has turned once beautiful, large, single family homes into multiple family dwellings. It is clear that the owners do not maintain the homes or properties.
There are many such houses throughout the city.
It is not pedestrian friendly, and the public transportation system is not effective for those who work. It runs only twelve hours a day.

It is a place visit or perhaps go to college. There is a college and university here.

The whole city shouts to me that it is a ghetto that has a jewel hidden hither and thither.

Retiree city - 6/25/2017
The city survives off government grants and historical tourism. Very depressed atmosphere. The employment starting pay is 10 - 12.00 dollars an hour. The temp service industry profits the most in this quick hire and 90 day fire. So the companies don't have to pay employees health insurance. Housing is segregated and extremely expensive for a boring town. Not a place to raise kids. Read More

It's super-low - 9/16/2011
Being able to afford something in Springfield is pretty much a no-brainer. It kinda has to be however because the economy, while recessed everywhere else, is rather depressed Read More

why I moved - 5/8/2010
The other message is correct. Springfield is a dump. The housing market has taken a nose dive yet the city still continues to give false housing values so we have to pay more property tax. The city charges an income tax, yet provides basically nothing. The police and fire pay is crappy. There are no jobs in Springfield. My husband and I moved back there after 20 years in the military and all we could get were part time jobs. Who can live on that. My son who is in college was getting 8 hours a week at his job and finally just quit. Look at the statistics. People are moving away in droves, the housing values are in the negative. There is nothing to do there except drive to Columbus, Dayton or Cincinnati. My family has retired there and if it wasnt for the fact that they can't sell their house, they would move. Aside from my family, the only good thing about Springfield, Ohio is IT in the rear view mirror. this is the gods honest truth, ask anyone? It is a $#!+hole.  Read More

All I can say is "what a dump". Very few nice neighborhoods, lots of them crime and drug-ridden. The only business growth is on Bechtle Ave. At least it's an easy drive to Dayton and Read More

Springfield has a wonderful summer arts festival. They have great music, childrens plays, family plays, and movies. It is very close to the museum of art which hosts some local talent as well as special displays throughout the year. Nearby is ferncliff cemetary which has unique sites throughout. Springfield also has the Kuss center which has a great venue of Read More

Climate in Ohio - 6/11/2007
If you like variety, Ohio is a good choice. Summer can be quite hot and humid for period, followed by more moderate heat. Not too much rain, but at times it can come quickly and last a while. Winter can be mild with period of severe cold and substantial snow on occaisions, but not the norm. Spring and fall can change rapidly- warm one day, rather cold the next. If you like change, Ohio is a good Read More
