Muhlenberg-isn't today what it was 20 years ago.. - 7/17/2016
Muhlenberg township WAS a gr8 place to live a bit ago, but many low income families from Reading moved here and that is reflected in all the discount stores in the area. Many stores closed because of this.. A mall was built on the fifth st highway in the 70's and it is currently a mostly dead mall.

Best areas to live in muhlenberg are; Muhlenberg Park, West of route 61 but east of Laurel Run(Waterway). Riverview Park is also a great place to live here. Read More

You can get there, from here, if you are patient - 9/15/2007
Muhlenberg is situated at the outskirts of Reading, north of the city. The only "highway" route to the Northeast from this area is state route 222, which is infamous for long traffic tie ups and delays between Muhlenberg and Kutztown. Just north of Muhlenberg is the officially deemed worst traffic jam area in the entire state of PA. Unfortunately, is you are headed to NY or New England, or just to Allentown to go to work, you must sit in long lines of stop and go traffic along a 2-lane road. If you're headed toward Philadelphia or Baltimore, be prepared for nightmarish commutes by automobile. This area is NOT served by commuter or passenger rail service and efforts to reinstate those have been painfully slow and probably doomed to die. Area long timers don't want any major highways here ... unfortunately that Read More

Gardeners Delight - 9/15/2007
Muhlenberg area has a true 4 season climate, but the winters are fairly short and milder than in more northern parts of Pennsylvania. Spring arrives early, in late April, and the first autumn frosts often don't hit here until late October. Snowfall is usually nil or minimal until January, and the ground doesn't really freeze hard until then (down to about 6 inches or so). Driving in snow is only an issue because most people are inexperienced snowy weather drivers and just won't stay home when it snows. There are many birds and wildlife in the area despite the proximity to the city. Sometimes this can be a problem - groundhogs, deer and rabbits like to munch on gardens - but overall they are indicative of a relatively mild Northeast climate. Summers can be brutally hot and humid, however; you will need AC in your home and car to live comfortably from June through late Read More
