The Best Place on Earth - 12/21/2010
My home town of Warren, Pennsylvania is the very best place on the face of the earth. Beautiful scenery, peace and quiet, friendly people, and low stress. The only downside is the economy, not many jobs for young people. I love it there, am going back to retire and sit on the "banks of the Allegheny" and let the rest of the world pass by. Shocked at the "Air Quality" rating! - 7/11/2010
I lived in Warren back in the early 70's, and returned for a brief visit a couple of years ago, and in both instances, my experience was the same. The air in Warren is permeated with the petroleum smells given off by the oil refinery on the east end of town, and eventually an oily film covers everything in the town, including your lungs. The City of Warren has built several apartment buildings in the City of Warren. Some are rented based on income the others at market rent which has been $600 to $700. Also there has been Condo's built in the City on the River. I beleive there are ten units, however only one has sold at the present time. While the Warren region has experienced some loss of jobs in the manufacturing sector due to company consolidations, there are currently in excess of 300 job openings with local employers in virtually every segment of the economy, from entry level shop floor workers to engineers and accountants.
