The good and the bad of it! - 1/30/2013
If you like hot humid weather all summer long, this is the place for you. The humidity level here is really high most of the year. Elizabethton is a pretty town, lots of history. Sycamore Shoals State Park here is really well run and there are many programs available there year round. If you are religious and an avid church goer (especially Baptist) you will fit in here very well. If you are not, then you will not be accepted by most of the locals. Most people here have been here for generations and it's very hard for an "outsider" to break into that group. I think all this is a "small town" thing and probably true of most small towns, especially in the southern part of the country. Personally, I'm moving to the West

We stayed at a friend's home several times and can't wait to get back. I was never concerned for my safety, traffic is light, the people are friendly, the weather is wonderful, there is everything we need in Elizabethton. The area is close to several other states and the most beautiful scenery. We wake up to crisp fresh air and enjoy a comfortable warm day during the summer. The cost of food was average but restaurants were cheaper and the food was great. We are looking in this area to eventually retire. We found many suitable homes that were very well priced compared to our home in Orlando. We love
