Becoming a high density, expensive, urban city - 6/3/2019
We moved to Flower Mound on a relocation from out of state for my job over 20 years ago. At that time Flower Mound was a very rural, green, peaceful, spot. It has easy and immediate contact to DFW airport in the southern part of town (where we live). It also has quick access to 635, 114 and other major roadways. House lots were well sized and home prices reasonable. The culture was a mix of tech folks, airport staff, service industry folks, retirees, farmers, and young families. There was virtually no crime. Unfortunately, now things have changed. Many of the green areas have been cut down and those in power have sought to urbanize the town. Tiny lots, many well under under 5000 square feet, hold 3000-6000 square foot homes with new ones costing well over $500,000. The urbanization includes the development of high rise (and high price) condos, and the creation of Riverwalk, a high density apartment/condo endeavor which will support thousands of people....but with little to no

Flower Mound is Wonderful - 6/26/2014
Flower Mound is a great place to live for raising a family and for retiring. It has a great mix of young and old, working professionals and retirees. Our community has convenient shopping, a brand new hospital and lots of healthcare services/facilities. The road system is amazing. It has grown from a sleepy little rural community to a well planned and lovely "city." It is only about 15 miles from DFW airport and easy to fly anywhere. The people are warm and friendly. Lots of nice housing options... It is really great here.

Friendly Community - 1/8/2013
To be honest, I live overseas most of the year and am only here a few weeks in the winter and a few weeks in the summer. But I find Flower Mound a very easy place to live. Plenty of shops and restaurants and only a short drive to Dallas, Fort Worth, or Grapevine and DFW airport. My daughter's LOVE! - 10/22/2012
My daughter just loves Montessori Country Day School! We are new to the area, and fell in love with it here. The teachers are so very caring and nurturing, and my daughter has learned so much already! I would recommend MCDS to anyone and everyone who is invested in their child's education. I love the after school program that includes science, art, Spanish, Yogi Kids, drama, sports, music, etc. The Fall and Spring festivals and book fairs are so much fun! I love how everyone in the office is so nice and go out of their way to make sure my child is taken care of on a daily basis. The teachers are awesome, too. The individual attention my child gets is wonderful. We love it here at Montessori Country Day School!

Population 22,000???? - 7/8/2009
The population has not been 22,000 in quite a number of years. It stands at approximately 60,000 as of 2009. All in all a great place to live with a fair amount of rural charachter. Of course, it is just a 10 miles north of DFW airport so there is a fair amount of noise anytime the wind is blowing out of the north. (The planes depart north bound when the wind is out of the north)

Flower Mound, Great place to live - 5/3/2008
I've lived in Flower Mound for the past 21 years and can't imagine living anywhere else in the DFW area. Nice people, reasonable housing costs, reasonable property tax rate, lovely neighborhoods. Close enough to DFW airport to be convenient to all of the DFW metroplex, but far enough away to not be bothered by the planes. Since we are north of the airport, and the majority of the "wind" in Texas comes in from the south, we seldom have planes taking off (the noisiest part of planes) over our heads. I have been a resident of Flower Mound since late 1990, so I have seen MANY changes and tremendous growth. Most of the growth has been well planned. Road construction has been a little slow but this is common in many fast growing towns. But, they are catching up and the roads have been designed and built well. Very good Utility services and phone/cable services as well. Hardly ever is there a problem. The Schools are excellent! The Police and Fire department are also excellent. They are true public servants.
