What BestPlaces Users Say about Georgetown

Georgetown, Texas is a rapidly growing city located in central Texas, just north of Austin. It boasts a rich history and a charming downtown area, making it a popular place to live for both families and retirees. However, like any city, there are pros and cons to living in Georgetown. To get a better understanding of what it's like to reside in this city, let's take a look at some user reviews from BestPlaces.net.

According to "Sarah S.", Georgetown is a "peaceful and welcoming community with a strong sense of community pride." She goes on to say that the cost of living is affordable and the schools are highly ranked, making it an ideal place for families. However, "Robert D." has a different perspective, stating that "the weather can be brutal and the traffic is terrible." He also mentions that the housing market is competitive and can be difficult for first-time home buyers. On the other hand, "Tina L." loves living in Georgetown and says it has "the perfect blend of small-town charm and modern conveniences." She also notes that there are plenty of outdoor activities and events to keep residents entertained. Lastly, "John W." praises the strong sense of community in Georgetown and says it's a great place to retire, with affordable living and a variety of amenities for seniors.

Overall, it seems that Georgetown has a lot to offer its residents, from a strong sense of community to affordable living and highly ranked schools. However, as with any city, there are some downsides, such as traffic and competitive housing market. It's always important to do thorough research and consider your own personal preferences when deciding if a city is the right fit for you.

Georgetown is a pretty and rapidly growing city No - 9/1/2006
Georgetown Texas is pretty, very low in crime with LOTS of nice low-priced real estate available. The fact of no State Tax is nice yet the definite lower cost of everything is misleading because property taxes are actually 2 to 3 times higher here! Nice place though, check it out. There are rumors that the property taxes are coming down so stay tuned to Georgetown Texas, Round Rock, too! Actually Round Rock has more good restaurants. Georgetown and Round Rock are about 10 miles apart going towards Read More

Georgetown is a great place to live! - 7/12/2006
The quality of life is great in Georgetown. Sure, it may not be the best place to live right out of college, but when you are ready to settle down and raise a family, I can't think of a more perfect place in the Austin area.

There is a real sense of community in this town. Shopping, restaurants, and a movie theater are coming which has been a weakness. Crime rates are low, tax rates are low for this area, schools are good (great in certain programs, like GT honors, and special ed). Parental involvement is very high, and housing costs are reasonable.

I call Georgetown, a mini-Austin...we have our lake (beautiful Lake Georgetown, our hill-country neighborhoods on the west side, our university..Southwestern University, our in the heart of town "San Gabriel Park"...with it's nationally acclaimed Hike and Bike trail.

We're just a bit more conservative here voting solidly Republican, and as the local bar-b-que joint "Dukes" t-shirt reads "keep Read More

More and more people move here from the West Coast and its dense metro areas. A year or so later, their claim the only thing they miss is the High Taxes and the Pacific Ocean. Then, they exclaim, the Gulf Coast is a 5.5 hour ride away and the taxes can stay in California.

We've been residents for 21 years, since the population was 1873 people. Today, the market is exploding with a projection of population inside the city limits plus 1.5 mile in five years of 80,000. Without a defined major industry property taxes will become unbearable -- Read More
