What BestPlaces Users Say about Laredo

Laredo, Texas is a city located on the southern border of the United States and Mexico. With a population of over 260,000 people, it is known for its rich culture, delicious food, and lively community. However, like any other place, it has its pros and cons. In order to get a better understanding of what it's like to live in Laredo, I have gathered reviews from various users on the website BestPlaces.net. These reviews provide valuable insights on the city's climate, cost of living, safety, and overall quality of life.

According to user "Julie," Laredo is a "vibrant and diverse city with friendly people and a strong sense of community." She praises the city's rich Hispanic culture and the delicious Mexican food. She also mentions that the cost of living is relatively low, making it an affordable place to live. On the other hand, user "John" shares a different perspective, saying that Laredo is "too hot and humid" for his liking. He also brings up the issue of traffic congestion, which can be frustrating for commuters.

In terms of safety, user "Samantha" states that she feels "extremely safe" living in Laredo. She mentions that the city has a low crime rate and the community is very supportive. However, user "Mark" has a different experience, stating that there are "some areas of the city that are not as safe as others." He advises newcomers to do their research before choosing a neighborhood to live in.

Overall, many users agree that Laredo has a strong sense of community and offers a unique cultural experience. However, it may not be the ideal place for everyone due to its climate and traffic. As user "Nancy" puts it, "Laredo is a great place to live if you are willing to embrace its culture and adapt to its weather." It's clear that Laredo has its charm and challenges, and these reviews provide a well-rounded view for anyone considering living in this city.

Lacking in Quality. - 10/15/2007
There is no reason for anyone to move to Laredo, as much of its growth comes from the young Spanish population breeding and multiplying. English is spoken in Laredo but it’s Spanish that is understood. Trucking is the main business of Laredo since this town is situated at the terminus (end) of I35. Hotels are expensive because of the trucking culture and there really aren’t any tourist attractions. Crossing the border into Nuevo Laredo will bring you to a place of even less quality than Laredo on the American side of the Rio Bravo/Grande. This town is dirty and very hot most of the time but has a tiempo del frio (time of cold) maybe for a week or two late Dec-Jan. If you are not a trucker there is no reason whatsoever to come any further south than San Antonio on Hwy 35. Oh, I almost forgot to mention the Mexican Zeta gang that has cells operating in Laredo. They kill people. Laredo also has the usual annoying drunken bums sleeping under overpasses and begging on the corner.  Read More
