Best Small Town I've Ever Been To: 07/15/2010 - 7/15/2010
I have visited the Nacogdoches area several times since I was about 14. I am 30 now and am planning on relocating to this area permanently. There are many large industries that have locations in or around this area that provide a great employment environment without reducing the quality of life. The air quality is amazing and there is green everywhere. The National Parks and lakes are excellent and even with the humidity the summers do not seem as hot because of all the shade offered by the many trees.

This area also has a lot of activities and history for everyone, especially if you are an outdoors person like me and my family. Seemingly endless walking trails, biking, hiking, camping, fishing, boating, and the list just keeps going. For anyone that wants a quiet country lifestyle with some benefits of larger cities, Nagogdoches is for you!

I recently moved from Nacogdoches to Dallas - 8/26/2008
Nacogdoches is the oldest town in Texas having been the center of development in Texas, as was San Antonio. However, it was later, somewhat side stepped, as the rest of the state developed. The downtown streets are mostly original brick that were hand made. All kinds of "firsts" were here and are part of most historical "must see" guides.

The city is currently built around the University, Stephen F Austin, by in large. By comparison to many colleges and universities it is quite large. An amazing amount of high quality health care professionals
are available. With the university in town, one has the good fortune to enjoy quality stage productions, large choral and orchestral presentations, noted speakers and statesmen visits, and outside and upscale artists of various descriptions. You just don't get this in other cities of this size.

Also in Nacogdoches, there is the slow moving rural farm life of times gone by. There are beautiful trees Read More

Very Affordable - 2/21/2007
We just purchased a large home in Nacogdoches with beautiful pool for around $65 per square foot. We found very affordable housing everywhere and are very satisfied with our decision to retire here, at least for part of the Read More

Interesting Combination - 10/19/2005
There is an interesting combination of many different elements here. It is home to the Stephen F. Austin State University, so you would think having a relatively medium sized school here things would be different. Nacogdoches is in the middle of East Texas; some call it "Hick", Texas. There seems to be a strange mix of old generation and new generation. The older generation seems to be glued to the ancient "Texas Ways", but then there is the newer generation that are partiers.

The only interesting option about Nac. is that it claims to be the oldest town in Texas.

Well, after living here for a year, my advice is to take a picture from the side of the road and keep Read More
