Amazing - 10/28/2012
I've lived in Oakwood for just 6 years now. It has gone through some very positive changes during that time. We have a chief of police, there was no police department for many years, a state of the art elementary school building. The average class size is small and the teachers know the children by name, know who their sisters and brothers are and usually where they live. We have an active PTO for the first time in many years. On my block there are 3 families that have just moved here in the last few months! Things are changing and growing in Oakwood and am proud to live here!  Read More

Going back in time - 10/28/2012
I have been here for 6 years now. In that short time things are steadily moving forward. Several of my neighbors have been here all their lives. It is a close knit community where roots run deep. I also have 3 neighbors who are new to the community and have moved here in the last few months. That is amazing for a town the size of Oakwood. We have a chief of police, where we did not have any sort of police department before. We have a new school that is state of the art, with wonderful caring teachers that know the children and their families. We have a very active PTO for the first time in many years. Ralph Nador said “When stranger start acting like neighbors… communities are reinvigorated.” That is my prayer and hope for Oakwood.  Read More

not a happy place to be - 10/22/2007
this is a little "map dot" of a town and the best way I can describe it is:
the movie, "to kill a mockingbird." That's the way it was, it is, and always will be. It has 1 traffic light(and it's just a blinking, yellow caution light), no way to make a living,(you can work at one of the area prisons or the Wal-mart distribution ctr in Palestine, a few miles away. This is a town you don't even want to break down in, much less, live in! Keep on moving! And if you blink, you just might miss it Read More
